6-20 must; THEFT STORY RAN 6-13

AP – STOLEN SCULPTURE IS RECOVERED

AVV 6-9 #741934

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Police plan to return a 100-pound bronze sculpture that was stolen from a lawn in Hopewell Township in May.

“The Wave” turned up on the block at S&S Auction in Logan Township. A bidder alerted managers that Dana Stewart’s work was stolen.

The Lambertville artist had feared thieves had taken it from his friend’s yard to cash in on the metal’s cash value as scrap.

S&S manager Steve Shivers tells The Times of Trenton the auction house had received the piece from a buyer they had dealt with in the past.

Police are trying to determine who sold it to the buyer.

The sculpture is valued at $5,000.
