What a day!

Mallory Ames doubled, tripled, clubbed a grandslam homer and drove in a whopping 10 runs to lead the Newtown Junior Women’s Club to a 22-11 win over MasterCard International in the final game of the Newtown Babe Ruth Softball U10 division regular season.

Meanwhile, Creative Mailing concluded an undefeated season with a 5-1 win over Brookfield Dental in Newtown Babe Ruth Softball U14 division action as Newtown Pools defeated Keno Graphics and Carminuccio’s in U12 division playoff action.

Here are all the results –

U14

Creative Mailing 5, Brookfield Dental 1 – Kate Bowen, Emily Krewson, Sabrina Yudelson, Kathy Townsend and Cynthia Reynolds banged out hits for Creative as Ashley Christisano and Ally Modzelewski pitched well. Kelly Burton scored the lone BD run in the fourth inning as she walked and was later hit in by catcher Calli Koch. Nicole Elias and Lyndsey Burns played well defensively.

U12

Newtown Pools 11, Keno Graphics 10 – Emily Dion of Newtown Pools capped a nine-run rally over the final two innings by knocking in the game winning run with a single over a drawn in Keno Graphics infield. In the bottom of the fourth inning, after having the based loaded by walks, Morghan Moroney and Taylor Johnson capped a five-run inning with clutch base hits to knock in two runs apiece. And with one out in the fifth, Jessica Jowdy started the final four-run rally by roping a double to left centerfield followed by Kate Siroky’s and Amanda Rowan’s second base hits of the night. For Keno Graphics, Elizabeth Grimes and Victoria Braga hit well, while Kelly Ann McCarthy scored two runs. Katie Fossum and Nicole Rotante were defensive standouts. Erin Begg and Ali Kennedy pitched well for Keno.

Newtown Pools 16, Carminuccio’s 10 – Jessica Jowdy pounded out four hits and drove in three runs to lead Newtown Pools to the semi-final win. Sarah Smith reached base four times and blasted a triple in the fifth inning. Amanda Rowan had two hits and five RBI while Hannah Koch and Kate Siroky chipped in two hits and two RBI apiece. For Carminuccio’s, Caitlin Cocivi hit a two-run triple and Carly Olivera, Carlie Goehrman, Natalie Dunn, Emma Herring and Zoe Eggelston all contributed hits.

Carminuccio’s 21, Keno Graphics 11 – Carlie Goehrman belted two doubles and drove in four runs to power Carminuccio’s. Emma Herring and Natalie Dunn contributed RBIs as well. Julianna Scalfani, Zoe Eggelston and Mallorie Dunn all contributed excellent defensive efforts for Carminuccio’s. For Keno Graphics, Megan Duero and Jessica Fossum each had two hits while Mary Beth Meier scored three runs. Lauren Harrison and Tara Dawley played well defensively.

Carminuccio’s versus Keno Graphics – In regular season action, Keno Graphics was coming to bat in the bottom of the third inning when the game was suspended by a lightening storm. For Carminuccio’s, Emma Herring pitched well as Zoe Eggleston and Natalie Dunn scored three times and while Mallorie Dunn and Megan Gibbons played well defensively. For Keno, Jessica Fossum had two doubles, Elizabeth Grimes had two hits and Mary Beth Meier scored three times. Erin Begg pitched well and Daniella Genovese was a defensive standout.

Rich’s Keys & Locks 7, Union Savings 6 – Tori Theobald made two spectacular catches in the field to spark Rich’s Keys. Jade Mather played well at first as Abbey Doski, Rhea Schneider and Megan Murphy each pitched scoreless innings. Union Savings had great at bats from Caroline Kurtz and Gabby Mason and two RBIs from Shannon Barra. Brittney Soucar and Meriah Tani also turned in fine defensive plays.

U10

Ferris Mulch Products 10, Newtown Limo 9 – Carley Ferris pitched three strong innings and whiffed eight batters as Ferris Mulch captured third place in the U10 division. Meghan Logan blasted a two-run homer as Vicky Kokoszka provided the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring her best friend, Allie Soderholm, to win the game.  For Newtown Limo, Mackenzie Lapp had several outstanding plays in the field and Alex Buttery pitched three strong innings.

Ferris Mulch 12, Dr Curtis Beck 12 – Julia Frattaroli made several plays at shortstop and first base to spark Ferris Mulch. Olivia Ingham pitched two strong innings as Kate Butera and Meghan Logan combined for six hits and five RBIs. For Dr Beck, Jessica Chaloux pitched well, Claire Miles played excellent defense and Marion Blawies led the offense with three hits.

Keno Graphics 10, Atkinson Stoneworks 0 – In a rain-shortened contest, Kenographics was led by the outstanding play of Heather Leone, Mareena Mallory and Emily Clark. Atkinson Stonework was led by Kimmy Gates and Courtney Escoda.

Keno Graphics 12, Newtown Limo 6 – In a game much closer than the score would indicate, Kenographics was led by Emily Davis, Kayla O’Grady, Natalie Dieckman and Madison Erhardt. Newtown Limo was led by Melanie Rotante, Alexandra Buttery and Danielle Shine.

Newtown Junior Women 22, MasterCard International 10 – In the last game of the regular season, Newtown’s Jr. Women’s Club’s Mallory Ames doubled, tripled, belted a grandslam homer and drove in 10 runs to help power the Newtown Jr. Women’s Club to the win. Emily Cannavo, Kelsea Morshk and Courtney Yapp and Callie Furphy all had multiple hits. For MasterCard, Victoria Haniluk had a fine performance on the mound while sisters Katie and Anna Guaragno had three hits each. Lilly Fulmer had a great eye at the plate, collecting three walks and a hit while Rachel Saint showed strong presence on defense.
