*The concert by THE NEW CARS and BLONDIE scheduled for June 25 at Mohegan Sun Arena has been postponed, with a make-up date to be announced later.

The casino’s website isn’t offering a reason for the postponement, but LiveDaily is reporting that a broken left clavicle suffered last week by New Cars guitarist Elliot Easton has caused the Road Rage Tour for both bands to “take a hiatus,” according to a press release. Easton underwent surgery on June 12 to repair his shoulder, which was damaged when he was reportedly thrown from a bunk as the band’s tour bus swerved to evade another vehicle. He actually played four shows while wearing a brace and in pain after suffering the injury, but the necessity of surgery caught up with him.

Hang on to your tickets for the time being. Right now there is no immediate word on when, or if, the tour will be rescheduled but it can’t hurt to hold on to tickets for the time being rather than try to repurchase them at a later date.

*Got a note last week from Andrew (“Drew”) English, who graduated from Newtown High School in 1999 and was, during his high school years, very active in the music department “in pretty much any ensemble you can think of… marching band, concert band, Jazz Ensemble, you name it,” he said. After NHS Drew headed to UMass Lowell and earned a bachelor’s in sound recording technology. His parents still live here in town.

These days Drew is still very much involved in the music scene, and after graduation he and some friends decided to keep performing. So the band Tides was formed, with the members intent on making it to the top, “or as close as we can, anyway… while still having a blast doing it,” he said.

Tides has already played just about every major venue in Boston, has made an appearance on Boston’s FOX 25 Morning News to a viewing audience of nearly 200,000 people, will make a record towards the end of the summer, and continues to play at colleges and high schools year round.

Next week Drew and friends will be in Connecticut, playing on Friday, June 23, as the openers for TENET at The Brickyard in Hartford. Start time for Tides will be about 9:30, and the show is for ages 21 and over. The Brickyard is at 113-115 Allyn Street; call 860-249-2112 for additional information.

*The Chevrolet Theatre and Dodge Music Center announced a few more shows this week, with tickets going on sale this weekend.

HALL & OATES will be at the Chevy in Wallingford on Sunday, September 10; tickets are on sale Friday, June 16, priced at $28, $38 and $55 apiece.

HIPPIEFEST: A SUMMER CONCERT FOR PEACE & LOVE – featuring Blood, Sweat & Tears, Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals, Rare Earth, Mitch Ryder, Canned Heat, Mountain, Country Joe McDonald, Melanie, Badfinger, and Denny Laine – will be at the Dodge Music Center in Hartford on Friday, August 25. Tickets for that are $20 for the lawn and $35, $45 and $55 for the pavilion, with sales to open on Saturday at 10.

Finally, tickets for the BROOKS & DUNN show announced earlier this year (as part of a Country MegaTicket) are going on sale for the September 9 concert that will also offer opening sets by SUGARLAND and JACK INGRAM. Those tickets – at $27 for the lawn, $45, $55 and $65 reserved – will also be going on sale Saturday at 10.

Tickets for these three shows are all available through LiveNation.com, the Chevy’s box office, and through TicketMaster vendors.

*New shows announced by The Webster Theater in Hartford this week include a return by BREAKING BENJAMIN, with CROSSFADE and DROPPING DAYLIGHT, on Tuesday, July 25; L.L. COOL J on Thursday, July 27; and GEORGE DOKKEN playing a solo show on Monday, August 29.

*SANTANA, with the Salvador Santana Band at Los Lonely Boys, will play a second Connecticut show on September 20 at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets went on sale last weekend for a September 22 show at The Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford; tickets for the September 20 show in Uncasville will be going on sale this weekend – Saturday morning at 10. Tickets for the Mohegan Sun show are priced at $65.50 and $85.50.

Also this week is news that AIR SUPPLY, the group that launched many of the timeless love songs of the 1980s, will be in Mohegan Sun’s Cabaret Theatre for nightly shows Wednesday, August 2, through Saturday, August 5. Tickets are $35 for all shows and will be going on sale Monday, June 19.

*Ridgefield Playhouse announced its fall line-up late last week (as well as some of the shows that will continue the venue’s winter and early spring offerings).

The season kicks off with the annual Start the Season Gala on September 16, and this year the featured talent will be CHICAGO frontman PETER CETERA, backed by 42 members of Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, lead by conductor Arnie Roth of the Chicago Pops.

Also coming in September will be a new “Up and Comers” series, focusing on new talent that promises to be the next big thing, which will open with DUNCAN SHEIK and VIENNA TENG on September 9. Folk artist DAR WILLIAMS follows on September 29 with Ridgefield’s own Kevin Briody opening. Others in the series are PINMONKEY (who is performing this summer with POCO), JOE BONAMASSA (performing with DR JOHN on November 9) and then POPA CHUBBY on March 31 (he’s an up-and-comer??!)

The Playhouse’s Rock series with groups like SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY & THE ASBURY JUKES, AVERAGE WHITE BAND, KANSAS and SHA NA NA in October; THREE DOG NIGHT and DARK STAR ORCHESTRA; and the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular and the unusual new sound of BJORKESTRA – the music of Bjork set to a 12 piece jazz Big Band orchestra – in December.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
