Devoted Mother, Nurse, And Friend
Rose Cervera Parzuchowski, 77, formerly of Bethel and Newtown, died June 8 at the Connecticut Hospice Center in Branford. She was the wife of the late John A. Parzuchowski, Sr.
Ms Parzuchowski was born in Danbury on September 23, 1928, daughter of Frank, Sr and Rose (Arbona) Cervera.
A graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School, she has worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Danbury Hospital and later for Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown, retiring in 1989. Ms Parzuchowski was lead mediator for the nurses union, negotiating nurseâs rights during Governor OâNeillâs administration. She worked in nursing homes throughout the state and was also a volunteer for the senior community center of Connecticut.
After retirement she worked as a private duty nurse, caring for patients on a one-on-one basis throughout Connecticut and Dunedin, Fla. She lived in Dunedin from 1996 through 2001, volunteering in nursing homes in the community.
She loved walking, dancing, bowling, gardening, and the Newtown Senior Center activities. Her life was dedicated to serving others, where she brought a smile to all those who crossed her path. She loved her family and her many friends.
Ms Parzuchowski is survived by her two daughters, Anita J. Parzuchowski of Beacon Falls, and Louise A. Parzuchowski of Oxford; and a son, John A. Parzuchowski, Jr, of Waterbury. She leaves behind one granddaughter, Katherine Adorn Asselin. She is also survived by her sister, Josephine (Cervera) Lopes, and brother-in-law, Oscar Lopes of New Fairfield; and sister-in-law, Harriett Cervera of Danbury. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Cervera, Jr, and sister, Adora Marie Cervera.
A mass was celebrated on June 13 at St Peters Church, Danbury. Interment is at the convenience of the family.
