Maria Kowarick was named to the Dean’s List at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.

Stacy Shpunt, a 2005 NHS graduate, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at the Roy H. Park School of Communications, Ithaca College, New York.

Matthew Klaus, son of Ellen Klaus and 2002 graduate of Immaculate High School, received a Bachelor of Arts in music and computer science from American University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Robert Anthony Bassett was awarded the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr Bassett is the son of Robert and Victoria Bassett of Newtown. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Brandeis University. Dr Bassett is currently doing a residency in emergency medicine at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Ind.

Thomas J. Hunt, 2002 NHS grad, received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Washington and Lee University. Thomas is the son of Steven L. Hunt of Lexington, Va. and Deborah R. Hunt of Alexandria, Va.

Kristin E. Ronan received a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in environmental studies from William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. Kristin is the daughter of Kathy and Michael Ronan and is a 2002 graduate of NHS. Kristin was named to the Dean List’s for the spring semester.

The following Newtown and Sandy Hook residents have been named to the Dean’s List at Eastern Connecticut State University for the spring semester: Diana Bonacci, Michelle E. Grimaldi, Melissa C. Russell, and Kristine N. Vichiola.

Cannon R. Jones, 2002 NHS graduate, received a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from the University of Vermont, College of Education and Social Services.

Christopher M. Schmitt, NHS Class of 2002, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Brown University.

Erin Delohery has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Syracuse University, School of Architecture. Erin is a 2003 graduate of Newtown High.

Cadet Andrew M. Narcum, son of John and Donna Narcum, graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point. Mr Narcum, a 2002 NHS graduate, concentrated his studies in systems Engineering. He was commissioned a second lieutenant and will complete his Officer Basic Training course at Fort Sill, Okla.

The University of Rhode Island announces the following students have received Bachelor’s degrees: Sara Klopfenstein and Luke A. Vogel of Newtown and Heather Rebb of Sandy Hook.

Caitlin Dalton, Jessica Omasta, and Kelly Rodden were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at St Bonaventure University in St Bonaventure, N.Y.

Ian Engelberger, son of Jeff Engelberger of Newtown and Debra Van Keuren of Warren, will attend the People to People Future Leaders Summit in New York City and Washington, D.C., on June 18–27, 2007. Ian, a student at The Gunnery in Washington, was selected based on his outstanding scholastic merit, civic involvement, and leadership potential.

Sean Walsh, a 2003 NHS graduate, has been awarded the Hospitality and Tourism Management Award by Johnson State College, Johnson, Vt. Sean is the son of Mary and Gene Walsh of Sandy Hook.
