Lions Club Honors Bill Denlinger
The Newtown Lions Club recently presented local attorney and Lions Club member Sutherland âBillâ Denlinger with a Knight of the Blind Award for Outstanding Humanitarian Service.
The award was created in 1990 by the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation (CLERF) to recognize the attributes of generosity, compassion, and concern for others. It is the highest award presented by CLERF to Lions of Connecticut and recognizes outstanding service to the community.
CLERF provides funds for research into diseases of the eye. Emphasis is placed on leading edge technologies such as using extreme heat to shrink eye tumors, new medicines for controlling glaucoma and river blindness, and continuing development of eye surgery techniques.
Mr Denlinger has been a member of Lions Club for 27 years.
