Folklife Project Receives $5,000 Grant
DANBURY â The Danbury-based Connecticut Folklife Project Inc (CFP) has been awarded a $5,000 grant from The Fullen-Smith Family Foundation to support its infrastructure needs â equipment and informational materials â to better publicize its work and create an archive of its programs, including the Master Artists Database and the World Music, Dance and Culture Series.
âThis grant will enable us to purchase a digital video recorder to document and archive the performances by master heritage artists, and make the recordings available to the public,â said Judith Cook Tucker, co-founder and executive director of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
âIt will also enable us to create a professionally designed brochure to ⦠to raise awareness of our work in the greater Danbury area,â she added. âLast year, The Fullen-Smith Foundation gave us $2,000, so this step-up in funding was a big vote of confidence. We are very grateful to the Fullen-Smith family for their ongoing support of the CFP.â
The Connecticut Folklife Project, founded in 2004, promotes intercultural understanding by working to locate, present and document highly-skilled traditional heritage artists who are maintaining their culturally-based talents while living in the United States.
