Holiday Closings & Early Deadlines: Juneteenth & Independence Day
Juneteenth will fall this year on Wednesday, June 19.
Federal Reserve Banks and branches will be closed.
There will be no regular United States Postal Service mail delivery.
C.H. Booth Library will be closed.
Town of Newtown offices will be open, however. Newtown Community Center and Newtown Senior Center will also be open.
The offices of The Newtown Bee will be open. Deadlines for the June 21, 2024 print edition of the newspaper will not be affected.
Independence Day
Most entities will be affected by Independence Day on Thursday, July 4.
Town offices will be closed. C.H. Booth Library, Edmond Town Hall, Newtown Community Center, and Newtown Senior Center will all be closed.
Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles offices continue to operate by appointment only. Visit portal.ct.gov/DMV to schedule one or to view the list of available online services.
There will be no regular mail delivery/pickup or retail services for the United States Postal Service.
All Federal Reserve banks and branches (most banks) will also be closed.
The Bee Publishing Company offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4. The office will reopen Friday, July 5.
Print Edition Deadlines
Some deadlines for the July 5, 2024 print edition of The Newtown Bee will also be affected by the holiday.
Real estate display ads are due by 10 am Friday, June 28.
Regular display (non-real estate) ads will be due at 10 am Monday, July 1.
In-column real estate classified ads will be due by 10 am Monday.
Regular classified ads will be due by 1 pm Tuesday, July 2.
Press releases to be considered for the Business, Education, Health, and Sports pages will all be due by noon Monday, July 1.
General news, calendar listings, Enjoy items, and Letters to the Editor must be received by noon Tuesday.
