Susan Mary Marshall, 64, passed away on Sunday, June 11th, after a long battle with ALS.

She was born on April 24, 1959, in Danbury, Conn., to the late Leo and Doris Belanger of Newtown.

Sue was very proud of her daughters, Ryan Dapo (married to Larry) and Samantha Tanner (married to Zach), and especially her grandchildren, Jackson and Delilah Dapo and Silas Tanner.

She was raised in Newtown with her brother, Michael Belanger (deceased), and her sisters Nancy Mollica and Doreen Tatroe. Growing up she spent a great deal of time at the family cottage on Big Pond in Otis, Mass.

She made countless fond memories with family and friends, including long walks, rifle shooting practice, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, playing board games and card games, ice skating, water skiing and often getting into trouble with Michael, Nancy and Doreen!

Over the years, Sue worked at many different jobs, including National Semiconductor, CL&P, and the Hi-Way Market. Her most recent and favorite job was driving Bus 4 in Dover, Mass. for Michael J. Connolly Bus Co.

She was known to be a strict driver, insisting on respect and safety, but also lots of fun. She always decorated her bus for the holidays and enjoyed creating memories for the kids. She truly loved her job and the children on her bus route.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, hiking, reading, watching British television shows and time at the beach working on her perfect tan!

Anyone who knew Sue would describe her as resilient, hardworking, sometimes opinionated, always passionate, selfless, and determined, but above all strong and fiercely independent.

This is the way she will be remembered, strong in both body and spirit.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4-7 pm Monday, June 19 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St in Newtown.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, June 20 at Saint Rose Cemetery, 20 Cherry St in Sandy Hook, Conn.

Family and friends are welcome to join us at the cemetery and at My Place Restaurant, 8 Queen St in Newtown, following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made for ALS at https://donate.als.org/SusanMarshall
