Youth Track Competitors Shine In Western Connecticut Conference Meet
The Newtown Hawks Intermediate/ Middle School Track Team competed in the Western Connecticut Championships this past week and had several standout performances.
Cole Terry won the high jump event with a leap of 5-4, setting a league record. Will Roman won the 200 meter dash. Annika Alexander won the shot-put and discus throw events. Jake Courchrsne-Roy was third in long jump and third in the 100 meter dash. Sami Arnold earned third in the girlsâ long jump competition. Ethan Burg was fifth in the 800. The girlsâ 4x4 relay team of Sarah Dowling, Julia DiMartino, Grace Larsen, and Maddie Finley took fifth. The boysâ 4x100 relay team of Terry, Roman Jack Godfrey, and Courchesne-Roy was third. The boysâ 4x400 relay team of Tyler Dullinger, Ethan Burg, Joel Duval, and Will Roman took fourth place. Jessica Shairer took second in the high jump with a team record of 4-6.
The boysâ team finished the season with a record of 9-1 and the girls were 8-2 this spring.
