Weapons Charges

Police said they were performing overnight building checks at Plaza South at 266 South Main Street at about 1 am on June 12, when they noticed a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck backing down a steep earthen slope lying west of the plaza.

Police said that motorist James Walsh, 21, of 11 Yearling Lane had attempted to drive the truck up the steep slope from the plaza to Bryan Lane. But on reaching the top of the slope, the truck struck some guardrailing that is positioned along Bryan Lane, damaging that guardrailing, police said. The slope also was damaged, according to police.

The truck needed to be backed down the slope, police said.

Police said they charged Walsh with first-degree criminal mischief and with two counts of possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle. The weapons found were a set of brass knuckles and a hunting knife, police said.

After arrest processing, police released Walsh on $1,000 bail for a June 26 court appearance.

Police report that motorist Christine Hermes, 36, of 99 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 2005 Ford SUV near 29 Brushy Hill Road about 9 am on June 3, when the vehicle drove straight at a slight left turn in the road and then struck some curbing and a tree stump along the right road shoulder.

Neither Hermes nor two passengers were injured, police said. Police said they warned Hermes for making a restricted turn.

Flagpole Intersection

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the flagpole intersection of Main Street, Church Hill Road, and West Street about 2:30 pm on June 10.

Police said motorist Hugh Carey, 71, of 30 Platts Hill Road, who was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan, attempted to make a left turn from westbound Church Hill Road onto southbound Main Street, but collided with motorist Alexandre Paulichi, 37, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Subaru Legacy station wagon. At the time of the crash, the Subaru was in the correct lane and had the right of way, police said.

There were no injuries. Carey received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

Boat Theft

Police report that on the morning of June 12, they arrested two people at the town boat launch at the Lake Lillinonah section of the Housatonic River at 196 Hanover Road for allegedly having stolen a boat from New Milford.

Police said the recovered stolen vessel was a 12-foot-long open aluminum boat that has an outboard motor. Police said the boat was stolen from a boating club in New Milford. New Milford has frontage on Lake Lillinonah.

Police said they charged Megan Roberts, 22, of New Milford with third-degree larceny. Police said they additionally charged her with possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police report they charged Jacob Hagy, 23, of Illinois with third-degree larceny. Police said Hagy initially had provided them with a false identity, so they additionally charged him with criminal impersonation and interfering with police. Third-degree larceny is a felony.

Police said they learned that Hagy is wanted by Illinois authorities.

Roberts was held on $1,000 bail and Hagy was held on $100,000 bail for arraignments on June 13 in Danbury Superior Court, police said.

Drug Charges

Police report that while on patrol at Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road about 2:30 pm on June 12, they spotted two males sitting within a parked vehicle from which police detected the odor of burning marijuana.

Police said that one of the males in the vehicle, Marc Bonacci, 20, of 6 Founders Lane, was found to be in possession of more than three ounces of marijuana. Police said they charged Bonacci with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school zone.

Police released Bonacci on $500 bail for a June 26 court appearance.

Police said they issued an infraction to the other male in the vehicle, Mitchell Lobuglio, 19, of 62 Taunton Lake Road on charges of possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
