SCAN Spring Show’s Art Reception Highlighted Creative Media

By Kendra Bobowick

A maze of artwork hung on panels wound through the Cyrenius H. Booth Library’s meeting room Sunday, June 10. Admiring the display of oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, graphics and sculpture, were guests and artists at the 42nd Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN), Inc. Spring Juried Art Show.

By 3 pm as the buffet table of fresh fruits, cheese, crackers and punch began to thin, show chairman Pam Danneman and co-chair Bambi Engelman sought guests’ attention. Noting the more than 180 submissions to the show, Ms Danneman said, “We wanted to thank all those who entered…” The judging was difficult, she said, but “the judges who worked for us did a great job,” she said. The SCAN members were “impressed with the quality of work and the variety of media, the breadth of imagination throughout the work was inspirational.”

Judges were artists Diane Dubreuil, Edward Martinez, and Peter Seltzer.

The SCAN Spring Show will remain on view in the library lower meeting room until Saturday, June 16.
