Jennie Marketti Mariani

Jennie Marketti Mariani, 97, of Danbury, died peacefully at her home, June 13. She was born May 3, 1915, in New Village, N.J., a daughter of Lavinia and Nazerano Marchetti.

Two daughters, Jeanette Conover, and her husband Frank, of Newtown and Dorothy Tinto. and her husband Charles, of Ellsworth, Maine; a son Dominick “Corky” Mariani. and his wife Kathy, of Tavares, Fla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Liz Mariani; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs Mariani. A special person in her life this past year was Goodness Sibiya, her beloved caretaker.

She was a most loving and generous mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who always enjoyed family gatherings. She loved her vacations in Maine, spending time in the gardens and picking blueberries. By her own example, she taught strong work ethics and will be remembered for all the encouragement she gave to her family.

Mrs Mariani was employed by American Cyanamid for 25 years. In her retirement she was very active with the Danbury Senior Center and was featured in the News-Times, modeling vintage clothing for the center. She was also part of a walking/hiking group well into her 80s. Mrs Mariani was among the first to volunteer at the St Joseph Thrift Ship.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Dr Robert Cooper and to the staff of the second floor infusion room for their outstanding care and support to their mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for celebration, Friday, June 15, at 9:30 am, at St Peter Church, 104 Main Street, Danbury. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours.
