Newtown Residents In Richter ‘Fiddler’

DANBURY — Newtown residents John McMahon and Megan Preis are featured in Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick’s joyous family musical Fiddler on the Roof, which will open the season for Musicals at Richter on July 21. Performances will continue Thursday through Sunday evenings, June 21 through July 7.

A longtime Richter veteran, Mr McMahon portrays Avram the bookseller. Miss Preis will be alternating with Margo Virzera of Brookfield in the role of Shprintze, one of Tevye’s five daughters.

Fiddler performances are outdoors under the stars on the grounds of the Richter Arts Center (next to Richter Park Golf Course),100 Aunt Hack Road. Performances begin at 8:30, but grounds open at 7:15 for picnics. Richter Rising Stars, a new ensemble for performers ages 21 and under, will offer preshow entertainment at the June 24 and July 1.
