Julia Frattaroli doubled and smashed a three-run triple and Carley Ferris banged out a pair of doubles as Ferris Mulch Products defeated Creative Mailing Services, 6-1, to capture the Newtown Babe Ruth Softball League U10 division championship last Saturday.

Ferris finished the regular season at 9-1-2 and then posted a 12-1 win over Top Notch Landscaping in the semi-finals before dispatching Creative Mailing for the title.

Kyle D’Andrea tripled in a run, Meghan Logan tripled and singled and Brooke Hadgraft and Emma Hungaski collected two hits apiece to pace the offense. Ferris and Frattaroli combined to toss five strong innings while Logan flashed the leather at third.

Rose Paggett also made great plays at shortstop while Hadgraft stopped several pass balls catching behind the plate and Leonie Schmitt made a great catch in left field. 

For Creative Mailing, which finished 9-3-3 overall, Abi Kuligowski and Katherine Kerins combined to make several put-outs in the field. Mikayla Kuligowski also caught several fly balls to lead the defense as Karlie Kuligowski and Katherine Kerins both singled to score the run in the top of the sixth inning.

Emma Cizmazia and Haley Cobb did an outstanding job behind the plate catching.

In the semi-finals, Ferris Mulch sailed past Top Notch Landscaping as Frattaroli tripled and homered twice and Logan went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer. Valentina Pena tripled as Ferris, Emma Hungaski and Hadgraft collected two hits apiece.

Ferris also pitched three solid innings as Erin Bernardi played well at second.

For Top Notch, Mary Jo Rossi played great defense in the outfield to limit a potential homerun to a single.  Anna Guaragno pitched three strong innings and Emma Lloyd made spectacular plays at third base.

Ferris Mulch team members also included Alexandra Dittrich, Callie Furphy and Amanda Vitti. Eileen Frattaroli, Beckie Ferris and Michele Logan coached the squad.
