Gardens For Everyone

MIDDLEBURY — In conjunction with Middlebury Bicentennial Celebration, The Middlebury Garden Club is organizing a bicentennial garden tour, “A Garden for Everyone,” on Saturday, June 30.

The tour will start at Middlebury Library at 10 am.

There will be six private gardens on tour as well as two public. Gardens will offer joy and inspiration for gardener and non gardeners alike, from a prairie garden and formal perennials to lakeside landscape retreat and a lakeside privet-walled potager. The famous cactus man’s tour of his crafty hand to the quiet hillside garden of a “master gardener” will round out the unique and select talents of Middlebury gardeners.

The tour will begin and end at Middlebury Library’s two public gardens that have been designed and maintained by the club. The Children’s Garden is the club’s newest project, and is still under construction, while the main Library Garden remains one of the finest town displays in the area.

Tours will be ongoing until 4 pm. Sturdy shoes are strongly suggested.

Tickets are $30 can be purchased by contacting Sallie Smith at 203-758-9996 or SallieSmith@snet.net or Teddy Hamilton, 860-274-1350.

Tickets will also be available at Middlebury Library, 65 Crest Road. Garden club members will be offering light refreshments on the day of the tour.
