Diabetes Club Meeting June 18
Diabetes Club Meeting June 18
DANBURY â The Diabetes Club of Danbury, a support group for people with diabetes, their families and friends, features a series of guest speaker programs at Danbury Hospital. The next meeting of the Diabetes Club of Danbury takes place Monday, June 18, from 7:30 to 9 pm.
The featured guest speaker will be Laura C. Erhardt, MS, LMFT, ND, a licensed marriage and family therapist and doctor of natural health, practicing in the areas of medical family and individual therapy. She will discuss strategies for improving well-being, while living with the chronic disease of diabetes.
Dr Erhardt is a proponent of the mind/body connection, and will illuminate throughout the discussion âhow we can use our thinking to improve our sense of well-being, and offer practical tips for mediation, chair yoga, reducing fears and anxiety, lowering blood pressure and knowing your limits, but stretching beyond them in a balanced way.â
She also will discuss some of the alternative ways in which people have used complementary methods to enhance their healing and gain a sense of control over their situation.
The Diabetes Club of Danbury meets at Danbury Hospital on the third Monday of the month in March, April, May, June, September and October. âThe goal of the free diabetes education programs is to provide continuous up-to-date information and education regarding the day-to-day management of diabetes,â said Dr Robert Ruxin, attending physician, Danbury Hospital Department of Medicine, Section of Internal Medicine, certified diabetes educator and medical director of The Diabetes Club of Danbury.
The support group meets at Danbury Hospital in the back of the cafeteria located on the third floor, South Building from 7:30 to 9 pm. For more information, visit the hospital website at www.danburyhospital.org.
