Angela Maria Sequenzia

Lifelong Passion

For Bowling

Angela Maria (Almedia) Sequenzia, 41, of Sandy Hook, died June 9 surrounded by her loving family and friends at Danbury Hospital, after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Portugal, to Maria Cecilia Fernandes Castro and Antonio Almedia.

Mrs Sequenzia is survived by her loving husband, Frank, and her son, Theodore James (TJ) Sequenzia; her mother, Maria Cecilia Fernandes Castro and her husband, Jose, of Seia, Portugal; her father, Antonio Almedia of Danbury; her maternal grandmother, Leontina Oliva Fernandes of Portugal; her sister, Virginia Alves and her husband, Jose, of Bridgewater; her brother, Arlindo Almedia, presently serving our country in Iraq and his fiancée, Lynn D’Aurio, of Brookfield; her in-laws, Frank and Sandra Sequenzia of Southington; her grandparents-in-law, Theresa R. and William E. McGowan of East Hartford; her sister-in-law, Kelly Bess and her husband, Bryan, of Lititz, Penn.; her nieces and nephews, Cidalia and Steve Alves, Rachael, Allyson, and Brian Almedia and Matthew, Nathaniel, and Melanie Bess; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School and attended Waterbury State Technical College. She was a CADD design analyst with SAIC in Bridgeport.

Mrs Sequenzia was an avid bowler, who bowled with her “bowling ladies” in many local and national tournaments. She was the first vice president of the Greater Danbury United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and served as secretary to numerous leagues. She was also a member of the Connecticut USBC Women’s Bowling Associates’ board of directors. Bowling was her lifelong passion, for which she received many awards.

She also served as a Eucharist minister at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, June 14, at St Rose of Lima Church; burial followed at St Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Danbury Hospital, and to the staff, nurses, and doctors at the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital for their dedicated care, especially the nurses and aides on the 11th floor during her final days.
