Big Y Larceny
Police report Zachary Bloom, 19, of 30 Ridge Road allegedly took merchandise worth about $8 from the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village on Queen Street and concealed it in his clothing on the night of June 13.
Police said they charged Bloom with sixth-degree larceny. Bloom is scheduled to appear June 26 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Honda Vs Deer
Police said motorist Nancy M. Crider, 64, of Bridgewater, who was driving a 1997 Honda Civic westbound on Route 25 near Sawmill Road about 4 pm June 14, encountered a deer which had run out of the woods and onto the road, resulting in a collision.
Crider was not injured. Police took no enforcement action.
Four Charges
Police report that while on their way to a call, they encountered four males and two vehicles parked on Button Shop Road, near a sand and gravel mine about 5 pm June 14. Police said that by the time they turned around, two of the males had departed.
Police said they stopped Justin Gaydosh, 17, of 90-A Huntingtown Road as he was attempting to leave the area. Police said that on investigating, they found a set of brass knuckles in Gaydoshâs pocket.
Police charged Gaydosh with carrying a dangerous weapon, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of marker plates, and failure to have automotive insurance.
Police released Gaydosh on a promise to appear June 26 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
VW Into Rails
State police said motorist Kirk A. Andersen, 18, of 55 Capitol Drive, Sandy Hook, was driving a 1995 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Interstate 84, in the left lane of two lanes, just west of Exit 10 about 5 pm June 14, when he attempted to get off the road from the left lane at Exit 10, but lost control of the auto and struck guardrailing along the right road shoulder.
Andersen was not injured. State police said he made an unsafe lane change.
Main Street
Police said they stopped motorist Nathaniel T. Greenfield, 20, of 29 Parmalee Hill Road midday on June 18 on Main Street and charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.
Police released Greenfield on a promise to appear July 5 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Seatbelt Check
Police said they were conducting a seatbelt safety check about 3 pm June 19 on Mile Hill Road near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, when they spotted motorist Alan Campbell, 48, of Madison driving a Jeep Cherokee without wearing a seatbelt.
Police stopped the sport-utility vehicle and investigated, learning that Campbellâs driverâs license has been suspended since April 2000.
Police charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Police released Campbell on $250 bond for a July 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Alcohol Charges
Police report they charged two youths with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor on the Newtown High School grounds near the schoolâs graduation ceremonies on the evening of June 19.
Police said that during the ceremonies they found that Courtney OâNeil Steele, 19, of 147 Brushy Hill Road and Michael S. Forestieri, 16, of 8 Diamond Drive were in possession of alcohol.
Police said officers who were assigned to work at the graduation ceremonies found the violations.
The two youths charged are scheduled to appear June 29 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
