Reed Intermediate School’s Library/Media Center was taken over for a period of time on Wednesday, June 3, by a Renaissance Faire.

Sixth grade students in Michael Corvello and Ellen Buckley’s cluster had projects on display during the faire. Other clusters at the school were welcomed to venture through the library to learn about the projects, and parents and family members were also invited for the event.

According to Mr Corvello, who joined his students in wearing appropriate attire for the event, this is the second year he has had his students complete the project. While some students were dressed as knights, blacksmiths, and more, Mr Corvello was garbed as a king for the event.

This year, Mr Corvello said his students “really ran with” the idea of the Renaissance Faire.

The students could work in groups or individually to study projects, which were completed during a European Culture portion of the curriculum.

Students who studied merchants for their project created booths to sell goods to raise money for different causes, like Maddie Fetchick and Elizabeth Teixeira, who sold candy at their “booth” to raise money for Pennies for Patients for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Reed Intermediate School sixth grade students Zach Kugler, left, and Michael Ferris studied knights and stood near their display during their cluster's Renaissance Faire, held on Wednesday, June 3. The boys created a catapult, pictured left, and a miniature grappling hook, held by Michael, as part of their project.
