Joy Ruth Ginsberg

Joy Ruth (Abrams) Ginsberg, 88, of Newtown, devoted wife and best friend of Louis S. Ginsberg, died at her home, June 12. Born in Stamford, May 14, 1925, she was a daughter of Rose (Cohen) and Edward Abrams.

She was the beloved mother of Deborah Waldman of Lafayette, La., Bruce Ginsberg of New York City, and Marla Corlew of Danbury; the dear sister to Stuart Abrams of Stamford; and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. A sister, Marcia Gorin, predeceased her.

Mrs Ginsberg attended Danbury Teachers College (now WestConn). After teaching first grade for ten years at Morris Street School, she pursued her interest in painting and as a talented artist with the West Street Artist Co-op. She was a devoted literacy volunteer in the Danbury School System.

She was an active member of the National Council of Jewish Women and was a lifelong member of the United Jewish Center.

Funeral services took place at the United Jewish Center, Danbury, June 14. Interment was at the United Jewish Center Cemetery, Gray’s Bridge Road, Brookfield.
