NEW YORK CITY — ACA Galleries presents its first solo exhibition of watercolors by Patricia Tobacco Forrester, on view through July 6.

Forrester graduated from Smith College in 1962, and then attended Yale University School of Art where she received both her BFA in 1963 and MFA in 1965.

Contrary to the prevailing trends of the 1970s, she began painting outside in watercolors so large they demanded to be taken as seriously as works on canvas. Her chosen medium moves and shifts on paper the way nature does — in currents of water, light and air. Her colorful plein air watercolors reflect the dynamism and power of the ever-changing natural world.

She has been awarded numerous fellowships and residencies which enabled her to paint both locally and abroad in the verdant landscapes of Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica, and Rockefort-en-terre, France.
