CT State Police (CSP) is asking anyone who witnessed what led to the crash of a motorcycle on I-84 East during Wednesday night’s rush hour to contact the state agency with information.

A collision between a passenger vehicle and motorcycle closed the interstate for over three hours.

CSP reports a 2019 BMW x3 being operated by Lauren J. Melody, 22, of Danbury, was traveling on the interstate between Exits 10 and 11 when it was struck from behind by a 2016 Harley-Davidson 3HX being operated by Matthew Collins, 34, Newfoundland, Canada.

Melody and a passenger in the BMW were not injured.

Collins received suspected serious injury, according to the CSP report, and was transported to a hospital by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Mr Collins died June 14.

Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue also responded to the crash.

The highway was closed at Exit 10 and diverted for the next few hours.

The case remains under investigation by Trooper Christopher Porrini. Any information or witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Troop A at 203-267-2200.
