David C. Miles, 56, of Randolph, Vt., died unexpectedly Thursday, June 9.www.dayfunerals.com.

Mr Miles was born August 15, 1959, in Chester, Penn and was the son of Patricia (MacMorran) and L. William  Miles. He grew up in Weston, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Joan, on October 1, 1983.

He raised his family, whom he loved dearly, in Newtown before fulfilling a lifelong dream of moving to Vermont in 2010.

Mr Miles attended Castleton State College, ultimately receiving his bachelor of arts degree from Fairfield University. After spending the early part of his career designing security systems, he pursued a degree in teaching - which he passionately applied toward working with students at Randolph Union High School and Williamstown High School in Vermont.

He put forth the same enthusiasm and dedication he showed for teaching toward other pursuits, such as serving as chair of the Randolph Planning Commission and as a representative of Randolph's Design Review Board. In his free time, he loved playing golf, camping, hiking, history and, most of all, spending time with his family.

His wife, Joan Miles; sons Tyler Miles, and his wife Kristyn, of Barrington, N.H., and Jordan Miles of Nanjing, China; daughter, Devon Miles of Norwalk; brothers, Michael Miles of Greenwich and Daniel Miles of Weston; sisters Janice Miles-Dunn of Fairfield and Tricia Pereira of Redding; and grandchildren Greyson and Remington Miles survive him. In addition to his parents, Mr Miles was predeceased by his brother, William Miles.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. There are no calling hours.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Randolph Area Food Shelf, 12 Prince Street # 3, Randolph VT 05060.
