Occupation: I’m a realtor with William Raveis, in the Newtown office. I’ve been with them for about six months, but I’ve been a realtor for three years. Prior to working here, I was also a gymnastics coach at the Trumbull Y.

Family: I’m married to Bill. We have three children. Kathryn is 16, Allyson is 13, and Sean is 10 years old.

Pets: We have far too many! We have a beagle/Jack Russell cross named Bailey. Oreo is our 20-year-old cat. Then there is Bonnie the bunny, and Xena is our hamster. That’s enough.

How long have you lived here? We moved to Sandy Hook seven years ago, from Easton.

What do you like to do in your free time? I love to read and I do puzzles. I like to walk with my friends. Mostly, I’m a taxi service right now for my children. I do a lot of driving around town.

Do you have a favorite author? My summer reading is usually light. I like Jennifer Crusie, Janet Evanovich, and Phillipa Gregory. It depends on the day. I just finished Wild Ride, co-authored by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer. It’s a silly book.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I’m one of eight children, and my siblings are either in Wisconsin or the Southwest. So we usually travel to see family in Wisconsin, or to Colorado to see my mom. Of course, the number one requested vacation is to Disney World. We try to get down there about every five years, if we can.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The schools and the community. I love that the town provides so much for families to do together, and opportunities to support businesses in town.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My grandfather and my mother, for their open acceptance of everybody. When my grandfather was living, he was so ahead of his time in his lack of prejudice and his patience with everybody. He understood that everyone has a story. He always took the time to understand and embrace others’ differences. He was very kind, happy, and loving toward people. My mother is the same way.

Do you have a personal philosophy? It’s important to take the time to listen and understand, without judging.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I would say really bad movies. I love nonsense stuff — the hokey movies like Bring It On. If I’m up late at night, that’s what I’m watching… or I’m watching classic musicals like Singing In The Rain.
