Motor Vehicle Accident

Police report that motorist Andrew Husvar, 23, of 12 Bradley Lane was driving a 2008 BMW 335 auto northward on High Rock Road, near Kelly Court, about 9:50 pm on May 29, when he lost control of the auto and it struck a utility pole along the left road shoulder.

There were no injuries. Police said that following their investigation, they issued Husvar an infraction on charges of making a restricted turn and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

Five MV Charges

Police said that they stopped motorist Justin Smith, 33, of 4 Goodyear Road at about 10 am on June 6 for driving at high speed in an active construction area at the intersection of Church Hill Road, Washington Avenue, Riverside Road, and Glen Road in Sandy Hook Center.

After investigating, police charged Smith with traveling too fast for conditions, driving under suspension, driving with a defective windshield, failure to change the address on a driver’s license, and failure to change the address on a vehicle registration.

After processing the charges, police released Smith on $100 bail for a June 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Jeep Vs Honda

A two-vehicle accident occurred in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street about 4:30 pm on June 4, police report.

The collision involved motorist Mariellen Schneider, 80, of 15 Scenic View Drive, who was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty SUV, and motorist Albert Silvestro, 85, of 24 St George Place, who was driving a 1998 Honda Accord sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Three Vehicles

A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred on South Main Street at its intersection with Prospect Drive and Pecks Lane about 1:36 pm on June 3.

Motorist Thomas Parsons, 62, of 20 Bonnie Brae Drive, who was driving a 2003 Nissan Frontier pickup truck southward on South Main Street, stopped due to traffic conditions, police said.

Consequently, southbound motorist Emily Perrotta, 19, of Southbury, who was driving a 2010 Honda Civic sedan, then was slowing down behind the Nissan, police said.

Southbound motorist Christopher Bucci, 24, of Trumbull, who was diving a 2000 Nissan Altima sedan, then struck the rear end of the Honda, pushing the Honda into the rear end of the pickup truck, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police issued an infraction to Bucci for following too closely.

Sandy Hook Center

A two-vehicle accident occurred near 106 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center about 7:47 pm on June 4, police report.

The accident involved motorist Michael Spak, 18, of 24 Edgelake Drive, who was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Passat sedan, and motorist Christine Rising, 43, of 27 Sleepy Hollow Road, who was driving a 2006 Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Spak a written warning for unsafe movement.

Intersection

Police said that a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Wasserman Way about 5:24 pm on June 5.

Police report that motorist Alan Tarsi, 52, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban SUV, struck the rear end of a 2012 Ford E-250 van driven by Daniel Rodriguez, 35, of Derby.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Tarsi a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Larceny Charge

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Denise Ingegneri, 30, of Dover Plains, N.Y., went to the police station about 12:17 pm on June 7 and was charged with sixth-degree larceny, police report.

Police said that the charge stems from their investigation into a shoplifting incident which allegedly occurred last December 27 at the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village on Queen Street.

Following processing, police released Ingegneri on $100 bail for a June 20 court appearance.

Four Charges

Police report that at about 5 pm on June 8, they spotted motorist Jason Gagner, 24, of Southbury driving a vehicle on the Exit 11 off-ramp of Interstate 84 which had no front marker plate, so they stopped Gagner to investigate.

Police said they charged Gagner with failure to display a marker plate, driving with a suspended license, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After $100 bail was posted, Gagner was released for a June 20 court appearance.

Church Hill Crash

A two-car accident happened about 11:36 am on June 8 on Church Hill Road, near its intersection with Walnut Tree Hill Road, according to police.

Motorist Concetta Swanson, 58, of Bethel was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla sedan eastward on Church Hill Road and then slowed for traffic conditions, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by a 17-year-old eastbound motorist who was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe, police said.

There were no injuries. Police report they issued the 17-year-old an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

BMW Vs Honda

At about 11:56 am on June 1, a two-vehicle collision occurred on eastbound Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Toddy Hill Road.

Motorist Neil Yandow, 23, of Bethel, who was driving a 2007 Honda Accord sedan, slowed for traffic conditions and was then was struck from behind by motorist Olivia Ingham, 16, of 26 Flat Swamp Road, who was driving a 1998 BMW 528-I sedan, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Ingham an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, and also issued Ingham written warnings for failure to carry a driver’s license and failure to carry a vehicle registration.

Riverside Road

At about 10:18 pm on June 7, motorist Julie Genz, 50, of 68 Alpine Drive, who was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla sedan eastward on Riverside Road, near its intersection with Timber Mill Road, road went off the right road shoulder on a curve and then struck a utility pole, police report.

Genz was transported to the hospital for pain, police said. Police said they issued her a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Intersection

About 12:07 pm on June 4, motorist Abigail Blakeman, 18, of 57 Pond Brook Road was driving a 2001 Subaru Legacy station wagon southward on Edmond Road, as Laurence Bradshaw, 53, of Oakville was driving a 2006 International 4100 truck westward on Church Hill Road, police said.

The Subaru stopped at a stop sign and then attempted to turn left onto eastbound Church Hull Road, but collided with the International, police said.

There were no injuries. Blakeman received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection, police said.

Highway Accident

State police report a three-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 84, about 2,500 feet east of Exit 10, about 7:43 am on June 6.

State police said motorist Margaret Rotella, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Honda Accord, stopped for traffic, after which motorist Victor Martins, 31, of Glastonbury, who was driving a 2011 Chevrolet K-1500 pickup truck, stopped behind the Honda.

State police said that a vehicle driven by James Cortes, 39, of Peekskill, N.Y., slid into the rear end of the Chevrolet, pushing the Chevrolet into the rear end of the Honda.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

I-84 Crash

State police said that at about 7:26 am on June 5, motorist Jarrett Savarese, 40, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Highlander SUV on Interstate 84 near Exit 9, slowed for traffic conditions and was then hit from behind by motorist Kyara Laguna, 23, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2005 Audi A-4.

Savarese was transported to Danbury Hospital for pain, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.

Interstate Collision

State police report that they investigated a two-vehicle collision that happened on eastbound Interstate 84, about 2,500 feet west of Exit 13, at about 8:13 am on June 3.

The accident involved motorist Chiragkumar Surti, 29, of Middletown, who was driving a 2006 Nissan Maxima sedan, and motorist Jeff Bodo, 47, of Highland, N.Y., who was driving a 2009 IHC truck, state police said.

There were no injuries. Due to a lack of physical evidence, fault for the accident could not be determined, state police said.

Lost Keys

Police said that on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 5, an unidentified person, who was at the US Post Office at 5 Commerce Road, lost a key ring which has an electronic vehicle-door opener attached to it, as well as two keys, one of which has a black head on it bearing the Toyota-brand logo.

Police ask anyone who finds the object to return it to the police station at 3 Main Street. Officer Maryhelen McCarthy is investigating.

DUI Case

Police report they received a complaint concerning erratic driving occurring in the Mt Pleasant Road area about 5:30 pm on June 11, prompting them to seek the driver in question.

Police said they spotted the reported Chrysler Sebring, which they then attempted to stop.

The Chrysler continued traveling on Mt Pleasant Road and then turned onto Susan Lane where it stopped, police said.

Police said they investigated and then charged the Chrysler’s driver, Janis Sajovic, 64, of 9 Susan Lane with driving under the influence and with failure to obey a police officer’s signal to stop.

After processing, police released Sajovic on $500 bail for a June 25 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
