Guilford 6, Newtown 5 (OT) â With the weather deteriorating, the two teams battled to a sudden death overtime where Guilford was able to score the decisive goal. Max Beitel, Kevin Regan, Kyle Shevlin, Scott Regnery and Erich Dinnan all scored to lead Newtown. Zack DâAgostino, Beitel and Zack Varga had assists.

Newtown 11, Southbury 1 â Brendan Martin (4), Scott Perry (3), Brett Mauro (2), Nikko Confortini, and Matt Schaniel scored to lead Newtown past Southbury. Geno Villafano offered a great assist. Travis Benedict, Patrick Dunseith, Derek Calerara, and Alex Hennessey anchored the defensive line for Newtown.
Newtown 4, New Canaan 2 â Michael Kesnick, Brendan Martin, Brett Mauro and Nikko Confortini scored the goals as Newtown edged New Canaan. Bobby Schwarz, Cody Cullens, Ryan Hudock, and Collin Babbage were strong in the midfield. Goalies Peter Omalyev and Matt Schaniel played well in the cage to shut down the opponentâs offense.
Senior Girls Blue

Cheshire 9, Newtown 8 â Nicky Rua-Latte and Rachel Maley scored two goals apiece to lead Newtown in a loss to Cheshire. Moira, Briana Berg, Erica Vacaro and Lauren Clark added a goal apiece. Katie McNulty dished off a pair of assists while Erin Ruddock and Alexa Faeth combined for five saves in the cage. Abby Radziminski, Nicole Dankowski and Jen Greenwood had fine performances.
Newtown 10, Southbury 7 â Hannah Tenenbaum and Nicky Rua-Latte scored two goals apiece as Newtown slipped past Southbury. Abby Radziminski, Briana Berg, Moira Collier, Lauren Clark, Libby Feltch and Colleen Thornberg also scored. Mandy Nostrand, Emily Oliver and Cathy Urfer played well.
Newtown 13, Southington 11 â Rachel Maley scored five goals and Lauren Clark added two as Newtown nipped Southington. Jen Greenwood, Nicky Rua-Latte, Dana Schunter, Libby Feltch, Erica Vacaro and Cathy Urfer also scored. Kristene Salbu played well while Alexa Faeth performed well in the cage.
Senior Girls Gold
Pomperaug 9, Newtown 7 â Courtney Gleason scored six goals and Stephanie Soder added another in a close loss to Pomperaug. Lisa Isabella made 14 saves in goal and Lucy Remitz, Christie Attanasio, and Erin Baier combined to pick 22 ground balls.
Junior Boys
Brookfield 7, Newtown 4 â Jamie Bowers scored two goals and Harrison Gillis added a goal and two assists as the Hawks dropped a tough game to Brookfield. Jake Woolf made six saves in goal and chipped in with a score. Andrew Hyland stopped six shots in the second half while Danny Greenwood had an outstanding game at midfield and defense and grabbed 16 ground balls.
