New Show At Craft Center
BROOKFIELD â A new exhibition entitled âDelecTABLE: Exceptional Functional Ceramicsâ will open in the Lynn Tendler Bignell Gallery at Brookfield Craft Center on June 15 and will then be on view through August 10.
The unique national invitational exhibition has been developed for the center by the noted curator and collector Gail M. Brown of Philadelphia. Ms Brown invited 16 prominent national profile ceramic artists to participate.
According to Ms. Brown, âWork on display will focus on living with and using fine craft objects made by the hand and the heart which honor the historic craft continuum. I have chosen work which will encourage visual and tactile awareness, and will connect viewers personally to the makers and their creative process.â
Judith T. Russell, Brookfield Craft Centerâs gallery director, points out: âThe goal of the show is to present exceptional functional ceramic objects that will share the pleasures of creative utility for the table, potentially making every day a special occasion and even possibly creating new family rituals.â
Participating artists include Mary Barringer, Cynthia Bringle, Linda Christianson, Sam Chung, Josh DeWeese, John Gill, Alec Karros, Gail Kendall, Matthew Metz, Kathryn Narrow, Lisa Orr, Sandy Pierantozzi, Pete Pinnell, Linda Sikora, Sandy Simon and Bruce Winn.
Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Admission is free.
The Lynn Tendler Bignell Exhibition Gallery at Brookfield Craft Center is made possible by the Lynn Tendler Bignell Foundation in support of contemporary American craft artists with additional support from Connecticut Commission on the Arts, a state agency. The gallery is within Brookfield Craft Centerâs historic (circa 1780) grist mill building on Route 25, just east of the four corners intersection with Route 7/202.
