We do not need to erect a new town hall. I vote and donât recall this on a ballot, so Iâm surprised each time I read that âweâ approved one. I did not.
If more space is needed, use some available space in Canaan House, which is being heated and cooled anyway for other town offices and school rooms. Our politicians are operating too far away from the real reality of todayâs economy.
I work for a medium-sized manufacturer who is experiencing reduced monies coming in, so we must adjust our world ... our town government is experiencing a reduction in tax money, so must do so as well. I truly believe this is a frivolous expense right now.

How specifically does a new town hall building benefit the taxpayers of Newtown? What upgrades/improvements in services can I expect to see? If the answer is none, well... who does it benefit?

Iâd love to see Fairfield Hills used as a mixed-use area, with artist studios, cafes, affordable housing, light industrial, and other similar types of projects. I understand the town does not want to act as a landlord, but it would add much in terms of culture and interest to an already excellent place to live. The town hall is a good first step if the old building has outlived its serviceable usefulness.
