Congregationalists Hold Special Program

To Honor Sunday School Staff

The children of the Sunday School at the Newtown Congregational Church presented last Sunday’s worship service with special songs and poetry.

Leonard Manz, organist emeritus, played piano; Michael Hadgraft gave the welcome, Stephanie Badick spoke on the Advent season; Darren Joseph spoke on the “Operation Shoe Box Christmas 2002” and Nicole Escoda spoke about Prayer Pals.

After Rev Janice Touloukian gave the pastoral prayer with the fourth grade class assisting with the Lord’s Prayer, Sadie Zukowski presented the offertory anthem.

Devon Wiggers spoke on the Easter season and Michelle Davies gave the scripture reading, Acts 2:1-4. Elizabeth Anderson spoke on the Pentecost and Michael Hadgraf gave the closing prayer.

Christian Education Recognition was given by Sheila Cole and Laurie Badick, co-chairpersons of the Christian Education Committee.

Recognized were greeters and ushers from the third grade class; the nursery school coordinator, Laurie Badick, and the preschool teachers, Dawn Escoda and Judy DeWolfe.

Others recognized and thanked were the kindergarten teachers, Sandy Petersen, Chris Hadgraft, and Carolyn Joseph; first grade teachers, Darlene Spencer, Marie Walker, and Cherie Collins; second grade teachers, Sue Body and Sheila Cole; third grade teacher, Diana Allwein, and fourth grade teachers, Ann and Jim Wiggers.

Fifth and six grade teachers were Patricia O’Rourke, Kathy Cunningham, and Chuck Leety; seventh and eight grade teachers were Bob Stowell, Jerry Ciole, and Carol Smiley.

Sunday School assistants named were Karen Whippie, Katie Rose Crevier, Vicky Cardoso, Karla Spencer, Robin Collins, Amanda Hadgraft, Julia Lysaght, Casey Palmer, and Stacey Gordon.

Junior Pilgrim Fellowship advisors honored were Carol Smiley, Vicky Truitt, and Pat O’Rourke. Senior Pilgrim Fellowship advisors are Carol Lindquist, Kathy Robinson, and Vicky Truitt.

Christian Education Committee members are Diana Query, superintendent; Ed Corfey, Sandy Peterson, Carolyn Joseph, Jean Walter, Robin Binnie, Rich Collins, and Mr Lindquist.

Sunday School Prayer Partners are Jeane Roberts, Margee Keegan, Ilse Foster, Betty Mounts, Martha Eastwood, Linda Newton, Gertrude Nagy, Linda Taylor, Marilyn Alexander, Maria Barresi, Sharon Kewley, Kent Carpenter, Mr Corfey, Ester Nichols, Betsy Evans, Bruce Landgrege, Jean Leety, Betty Williams, Barbara Field, and Pat Soomaa.
