A Rewarding Journey

To the Editor:

My Avon Walk for Breast Cancer was a great success. Thank you to all my supporters. The moral support I got along the way was equally important to raising the money. Walking 39 miles in Boston turned out to be a breeze after training on all of our Newtown hills! I far surpassed my goal and raised $6,480 for this much needed cause. It was the generosity of many to reach that goal. I was most touched by the people who did not even know me coming forward with encouragement and donations to help. I was moved by the heartfelt stories that you shared with me about your connections with breast cancer, thank you so very much. It helped to add a very personal touch to my work.

Kim Harmon at The Bee interviewed me for some publicity and I thank him for the article that helped bring Breast Cancer to the forefront and brought me in touch with some special people who helped out this cause. The following businesses helped spur me on when I thought I’d never reach my goal, thank you for your generosity: Shear Image Salon, Stop & Save Liquor Store, Metropolitan Traders Gifts, McGeorgi’s Antiques, New Wok Restaurant, Sun Wheel Health Foods, Stepney Hardware, Dr Curtis Beck, Sense of Self Gift Shop, Newtown Car Wash, Fashion Exchange, Dr Naga & Sekar Chironomula, Chintz N’ Prints, Black Swan Gift Shop, and The Newtown Bee.

Without all the help my walk wouldn’t have helped to raise awareness or money. Special thanks to my family, friends, and neighbors for being so very generous and encouraging throughout this journey that I was so blessed to be part of. I was happy to have you share it with me.

Be Well,  Bev Maley
