Thomas R. Martin

Thomas Ryan Martin, 36, of Peach Lake Road, Brewster, N.Y., formerly of Ridgefield, husband of Heather Ann (Darling) Martin, died on June 11 of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Route 121, Brewster, N.Y.

He was the brother of James Martin of Sandy Hook.

Thomas was born in Silver Spring, Md., November 5, 1964, a son of Andrew R. and Maryellen (Schofield) Martin, both of Southbury. A lifelong Ridgefield resident, he moved to Brewster six months ago.

As a Ridgefield resident, he attended Ridgefield schools, and graduated from Ridgefield High School, class of 1982. He was a handling and shipping clerk for National Ceramic Products of Brookfield, a position he held for the past seven years. Prior, he was employed as a carpenter and staff member of the Corner Pub of Ridgefield.

In addition to carpentry, he enjoyed painting, gardening, boating, and skiing. Mr Martin truly enjoyed his life. He lived and shared life to the best of his ability.

He attended St Mary’s Church of Ridgefield.

In addition to his spouse of four years, parents and brother, he is survived by two other brothers, John Martin and Daniel Martin, both of Lawrence, Mass.; two sisters, Tess Riegel of Wilton and Gigi DiLillo of Danbury; a niece, Jessica Martin; a nephew, Teddy Riegel; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, at 10 am in St Mary’s Church, Ridgefield. Cremation will follow.

Friends will be received in the Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, on Friday, from 5 to 9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr Martin’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 405 East 73rd Street, New York, NY 10021.
