Chamber Supporting Job Fair, Promoting ‘Shopping Spree’
The Newtown Chamber of Commerce wants to help connect you to a new career, and maybe a few thousand dollars to pump back into your hometown.
Chamber Executive Director Helen Brickfield told The Newtown Bee her organization is supporting the Greater Danbury Virtual Job Fair, June 22, from 10 am to 2 pm, via Premier Virtual. The fair is hosted by the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board.
Jobseekers will be able to meet with local businesses in various industries, visit their online booths, and talk with company representatives about job opportunities.
To register to participate, visit portal.premiervirtual.com/event/register-jobseeker/8301-danbury-virtual-fair-june-2021. Registrants must supply a name and a valid e-mail address; uploading a resume (PDF only) is preferred but optional. Reminders will be e-mailed to participants before the event.
Employer Information
Danbury Chamber CEO P.J. Prunty says Premier Virtual offers potential employers “an amazing interactive platform where you will be able to create your company booth, collect resumes, chat with candidates live during the fair, and, hopefully, hire.”
Business owners or hiring managers interested in participating in this virtual job fair should visit portal.premiervirtual.com/event/register-company/8301-danbury-virtual-fair-june-2021 and follow the instructions.
“If your company participated in the March 2021 Virtual Job Fair, then update your booth,” Prunty said. Watch a brief video on setting up a virtual booth at youtube.com/watch?v=0V2FyjQ87s4.
“We have also attached some helpful training presentations, and Premier Virtual will hold a Zoom training session prior to the event to walk you through it and answer any questions you may have,” Prunty said, adding, “We ask that booths are updated and ready to go live by Monday, June 21, at 12 pm.”
The upcoming event will be an hour longer than the last

‘Shopping Spree’ Raffle
Brickfield has also been expanding the Newtown Chamber’s “Great Newtown Shopping Spree Raffle” promotion, which will award a prize of $3,000, $1,500, or $500 to each winner while ensuring the support of local businesses and organizations.
Visitors to newtownbee.com can easily click through the related banner on our home page to grab tickets, which are $20 each.
Winners will be able to spend their winnings at Newtown businesses or nonprofits to pay a bill, receive a gift card, make a donation, or open a line of credit. According to Brickfield, checks distributed from the winners’ balances will only be authorized for Newtown-based providers, businesses, or Chamber member companies located outside of Newtown.
The raffle was conceived to help promote the community and encourage everyone to support Newtown business owners, products, and services.
