Annette Yvonne (Charette) Crevier, 91, of Southbury and formerly of Hartford and Wethersfield, died peacefully June 10 at Pomperaug Health Center in Southbury. She was born August 20, 1922, in Fitchburg, Mass., one of seven children of Alphonsine (Lachapelle) and Albert Charette.

One thousand paper cranes decorated her room at Pomperaug Health Center, symbols of long life, happiness, and peace.

She married Roger P. Crevier in 1946 and moved to Hartford, where they raised their family. She worked for many years serving delicious meals to the teachers at Bulkeley High School in Hartford.

Houseplants flourished under her green thumb, and she once grew a tomato plant that reached the eaves of her home in Wethersfield.

She was skilled in the art of needlework, crocheting, and knitting. Many of her family members still stay warm on cold winter days, wearing mittens and scarves she knitted for them. Babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit wore caps Mrs Crevier knitted, using a grapefruit to size the caps as she worked.

She loved her arts and crafts, especially classes she took part in after moving to Pomperaug Woods in 2003. Friends and family were gifted with bracelets and necklaces she created from handmade beads.

Mrs Crevier took great delight in teaching her grandchildren the art of playing cribbage and cards — and then winning regularly.

Her sons Philip Crevier, and his wife Nancy, of Newtown and Paul Crevier, and his wife Martha, of Richmond Hill, Ga.; her daughter Aline Donovan of Windsor Locks; sisters Jeanne Thibault, and husband Donald, of Fitchburg, Mass., Claire Williams, and husband Howard, of Winter Haven, Fla., and Florence Wilcox of Lunenburg, Mass.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several other relatives; and her Pomperaug Woods “family” survive Mrs Crevier. Her husband; brothers Armand and Paul Charette; and sister Lucille Brideau predeceased her.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, June 14, at 11 am, in the sanctuary of the Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, Newtown. There will be no calling hours. Inurnment will be private, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, and honoring her charitable spirit, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.

Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, is in charge of arrangements.
