Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Joel Guth, 29, of Oxford went to the police station on the morning of June 4 and was charged with failure to respond to a violation and with failure to have automotive insurance.
The charges stem from a past incident. After processing, police released Guth on $500 bail for a June 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Taxi Vs Deer
Taxi driver Frederick Maffei, 67, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Buick sedan carrying one passenger northward near 19 Main Street at about 12:25 pm June 2, encountered a deer that had run onto the street, police said. The deer and the taxi collided. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
DUI Incident
Police report that while monitoring traffic flow near 271 South Main Street about 12:08 pm June 6, they spotted motorist Richard Cavanaugh, 48, of 9 High Bridge Road driving without wearing his seatbelt, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police said they charged Cavanaugh with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, failure to carry automotive documents, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
After processing the case, police released Cavanaugh on $250 bail for a June 24 court appearance.
South Main Violation
Police report that at about 11:30 pm on June 6, they spotted motorist Jason Moore, 31, of Bridgeport, who was driving southward on South Main Street near its intersection with Elm Drive, pass another vehicle in a marked âno passingâ zone, so they stropped Moore to investigate.
Police charged Moore with improper passing and with driving with a suspended license. Moore was released from custody on a written promise to appear in court on June 26.
Bank Vandalism
At about 12:30 pm on June 4, it was discovered that an exterior nighttime deposit box at Webster Bank at 14 Church Hill Road had been intentionally damaged by someone, according to police.
Someone apparently had unsuccessfully attempted to remove that deposit box from the premises, police said.
The incident constitutes third-degree criminal mischief, involving less than $250 of property damage.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact Officer Larissa Nosal at the police station at 426-5841.
Street Sweeper
Police report a collision between a town-owned 2006 Elgin road sweeper driven by Raymond Peck, Jr, 63, of 23 Philo Curtis Road and a 1999 Honda Passport SUV driven by Cecilia Parra, 63, of Danbury at about 1:30 pm June 4 near the intersection of Poorhouse Road and Shut Road.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Peck for unsafe backing.
Rear-Ender
Police report a two-vehicle collision on South Main Street, near its intersection with Swamp Road, on the evening of June 5. Police said they learned of the accident about one hour after it occurred, when the person whose vehicle was hit from behind reported the collision to them.
Police said motorist Robert Krosky, 24, of 34 Mile Hill Road South, who was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am southward on South Main Street, stopped quickly for a noncontact vehicle that had stopped suddenly in front of him.
Southbound motorist Craig Granata, 45, of Monroe, who was driving a 2001 Jeep Eagle then struck the Pontiac from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Granata for following too closely.
Toyota Vs Hyundai
A two-vehicle accident occurred on southbound South Main Street near its intersection with Cedar Hill Road about 5:16 pm June 5.
Southbound motorist Janet Abram, 64, of 19 Castle Meadow Road, who was driving a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Judith Dalton, 62, of Stratford, who was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla, police report.
There were no injuries. Dalton received a written warning for following too closely.
Vehicle Into Rails
Motorist Marli Lockwood, 36, of Waterbury was driving an unspecified vehicle eastward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, about 8 pm June 7, when she lost control of the vehicle and then struck some guardrails along the right road shoulder, state police said.
Lockwood received minor injuries. State police said they issued her an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane.
Honda Vs Hyundai
State police said motorist Marion Crisalli, 44, of 5 Pilgrim Lane, who was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe westward on Interstate 84 about 7:12 pm June 6, was slowing for traffic conditions, when motorist Kevin Foster, 16 of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Honda Civic, struck the rear end of the Hyundai.
State police said they saw the accident occur and saw Foster talking on a handheld cellphone at the time.
There were no injuries. State police issued Foster an infraction on charges of following too closely and distracted driving.
RAV-4 Crash
About 4:40 pm June 6, motorist Kate Richenthal, 18, of Bedford, N.Y., was driving a 2009 Toyota RAV-4 SUV on Interstate 84, near Exit 11, when she lost control of the vehicle and collided with some guard cabling on the highwayâs median, state police said.
Richenthal was not injured. State police said she received an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane.
 Boy Arrested
Following an investigation into a motor a vehicle accident that occurred in May, police have arrested a 15-year-old boy on charges of reckless driving, driving a vehicle without a license, and making a restricted turn.
Police said that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, the boy turned himself over to police at the police station on the afternoon of June 5 and was arrested and processed, signing a written promise to appear on June 29 in Danbury Juvenile Court. The boy was placed in his motherâs custody, police said.
State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with such offenses.
At about 7:46 pm on May 2, police went to 9 Clearview Drive in response to a one-vehicle accident there.
Police said that the boy had been driving a 1990 Volvo 740 station wagon, which is owned by a Sandy Hook resident, westward on Clearview Drive near its northern intersection with Toddy Hill Road, when the vehicle went off the left side of the street, displaced some rocks and some soil, after which it struck a tree.
The Volvo continued traveling and then struck a group of trees. Ambulance volunteers transported the boy to Danbury Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Botsford firefighters went to the accident.
House Burglary
Police are investigating a burglary/larceny that occurred at a Hattertown Road house located near that streetâs intersection with Merlinâs Lane.
Police said that sometime between 6 pm on Saturday, May 30, and 11 am on Monday, June 8, someone illegally entered the house and stole a laptop computer and several pieces of jewelry.
Police are investigating the felony and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at their telephone tip line at 270-8888.
Dodge Vs Deer
About 6:40 am June 8, motorist Colleen E. Morris, no age given, of 76 Glen Road was driving a 2005 Dodge Magnum station wagon westward on Wasserman Way when a deer ran out onto the road, police said. The Dodge and deer collided. Morris was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Utility Pole
Police report that motorist Elmer Bollat, 27, of Bridgeport was driving an unspecified vehicle near 40 Cedar Hill Road about 5:39 am on June 8, when the vehicle collided with a utility pole. Bollat was not injured.
Police said they arrested Bollat on charges of reckless driving, making a restricted turn, and driving without a license.
Police said they held Bollat on $500 bail for an appearance that day in Danbury Superior Court.
Briefcase Gone
Sometime between 7 pm on June 4 and 7:30 am on June 5, someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked along Overlook Drive and stole a leather briefcase from within it, police report. Overlook Drive is a dead-end street off Mt Pleasant Road.
Officer John McCluskey is investigating the case of sixth-degree larceny and asks anyone with information on the incident to contact him at the police department at 426-5841.
Lincoln Vs Chevrolet
About 8:47 am on June 10, motorist Vincent Carrera, 53, of West Haven, who was driving a commercial 2008 Chevrolet Express van northward on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Wasserman Way, stopped for a red traffic signal, police report.
Northbound motorist Natalie Collins, 21, of Monroe, who was driving a 2002 Lincoln LS sedan, then drove into the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Collins a written warning for following to closely.
