You may drop in at the Senior Center weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm. A hot meal is served at noon for which you must reserve three days in advance.
Newtown has daily door-to-door minibus service Monday through Friday. Buses also run all day from the Senior Center to Sand Hill Plaza. On Fridays, the bus alternates between rides to Danbury Fair Mall and Berkshire Plaza in Danbury (to Walmart Route 6). Cost is 65¢ each way for the Sand Hill Plaza trip, 75¢ each way for out of town. Call 748-2511 TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE to book a ride and get the out-of-town Friday schedule.
This Weekâs Programs
*COMMISSION ON AGING will be Monday, June 15, at 5 pm.
*SCRAPBOOKING will be every Tuesday at 10 am. Bring a 12 by 12 scrapbook with top loading pages and pictures, the center supplies the rest.
*Fatherâs Day BINGO on Wednesday, June 17, at 1 pm. Special prizes for the men.
*AARP DRIVER SAFETY refresher program will be Thursday and Friday, June 18 and 19, from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. You must attend both classes. Space is limited; call to reserve a spot.
Upcoming Programs
*BINGO will be on Wednesdays, June 24 and July 1 at 1 pm. On July 1, special prizes will be awarded if wearing red, white, or blue.
*Friday LUNCHEON will be June 26, with kielbasa, baked beans, corn on the cob, potato salad, pasta salad, dessert. Afterwards The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will be shown at 1 pm. The cost is $5.
*Enjoy Tuesday, July 7, 1:30 to 2:30 pm with BOB MELL with songs such as âSummertime,â âSummer Wind,â and âUnder the Boardwalk.â
*HOLIDAY HILL PICNIC in Cheshire will be Monday, August 24, 9 am to 4 pm. Food galore, bocce, horseshoes, shuffleboard, bingo, mini golf, and heated pools. Free transportation from the center. The cost is $27.
Day Trips
*Enjoy lunch at the GRISWOLD INN, then step aboard the ESSEX STEAM TRAIN, and then a RIVERBOAT RIDE up the Connecticut River on Tuesday, June 30. Depart at 9:45; cost is $76.
*On Thursday, July 9, depart for Boston and lunch at Vinny Tâs. After lunch cruise around the harbor and past the TALL SHIPS docked. After the cruise, browse around QUINCY MARKET. Depart 7 am; cost is $116.
*The BOSTON POPS with JAMES TAYLOR at Tanglewood in Lee, Mass., on Sunday, August 30. Enjoy a luncheon at the Cork Nâ Hearth complete with all the fixings. Reserve seats for the Boston Pops. Only a few tickets left. Depart 9 am; cost is $110.

Wednesday: Chicken noodle soup with crackers, seafood salad plate on bed of lettuce with tomato, beet salad and French dressing, sandwich roll, iced chocolate cake.
