Newtown Ravens 11, Newtown Roche International 10: Down 10-9 in their last at-bat in a pressure-packed, opening-round playoff game, the Ravens rallied for two runs to notch their 10th straight win Monday at Fairfield Hills Field. The victory upped the Ravens’ record to 15-4 and moved the team into the semifinals against the Newtown Pirates.

The Ravens’ Cole Baldino lined a single to left field to start the game-winning rally. Michael Koch beat out a single to deep short and after Kyle Wilcox was intentionally walked to load the bases, Stefan Hennessey lofted a game-tying sacrifice fly to center, scoring Baldino. Koch alertly tagged up and went to third. Wilcox raced to second and a wild throw allowed Koch to score the winning run. A powerful Roche International jumped to a 2-0 first-inning lead after Roche’s Reid Schmidt was robbed of a long hit by left fielder Hennessey, and first baseman Ben Stoller leaped high with a backhand catch to steal a hit from Chris Tenney. Roche’s Eric Sutton crushed a long triple over the right fielder’s head and came home on a Nick Barreto single. Alex Saviano knocked in a run with an RBI single. The Ravens tied the score in the bottom of the inning when Koch walked, Wilcox smacked a triple over the left fielder’s head and Hennessey rapped an RBI grounder.
