At Ives Concert Park
DANBURY â Timo Andres, a sophomore at Connecticut Conservatory of the Performing Arts in New Milford, will perform a solo piano concert at Ives Concert Park on Sunday, June 24, at 1 pm rain or shine. Mr Andres will be performing works by Beethoven, Prokofiev and Schumann.
At age 15, Timo Andres is already an accomplished pianist and composer. He spends Saturdays as a composition student of Eric Ewazen at the Juilliard Pre-College and studying piano with Eleanor Hancock. He was recently the youngest finalist in the Young Performers competition of Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra.
Mr Andres performed in the Leon Tec showcase last fall and won the Renee B. Fischer Award at age 12. His piano concerto will be performed by the Juilliard Pre-College orchestra in fall of 2001, and last year his Rhapsody for Violin and Piano placed second in the 2000 Discovering Classics of Euro-Region Composer of the Year competition (it is scheduled to be performed at the Ramsgate Music Festival in England).
He has attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute as a composer and will be returning there this summer.
