Taps were tappin', hip hop was hoppin' and ballerinas were gracefully gliding across the Edmond Town Hall stage while pirates pillaged the aisles during four performances of The 64th Stardust Revue presented by Lathrop School of Dance last weekend.

Oohs and ahs echoed through the audience when family members and friends watched the 3- and 4-year-old ballerinas twirl while butterflies circled the stage. The next moment there was solid loud clapping showing appreciation to the most talented tapping Stardusters in Newtown.

In between, the audience was bedazzled by so many talented dancers of all ages. The LSOD Junior and Senior Dance Teams showed off their dance moves, which have grown and matured through Lathrop School of Dance since they appeared as butterflies on the stage. Miss Tamra Saric continues to choreograph hip hop moves to teach to these energetic dancers.

A highlight number, Sinead Flanagan and Caleb Wardenburg performed a beautiful stylized ballroom duet choreographed by Lathrop's "Broadway Bill" Haggett. The dance was upbeat, showing flow and graceful talent of both dancers.

There was silence as the LSOD teachers performed together in an ever so beautiful "Patriotic Tribute." Symmetry in motion, the teachers take away the collective breath of the audience, ending with a tribute to our American flag.

"It is so beautiful and the teachers perform the dance with grace and precision," said Mrs Diane Wardenburg, owner and teacher of Lathrop School of Dance. "This dance shouts Virginia Lathrop," she said, referring to the late co-founder and continued guiding spirit of the dance studio.

An ever so talented and fun to watch group of boys returned to the stage in jazzy hip hop numbers. The "B-Boys" - Jason Benson, Ben Mangold, Kyle Ruggiero, and brothers Chris and Stephen Wutzl - performed "Soul Brothers" moving, grooving, sliding, flipping and tumbling in motion across the stage.

Every year in June, taps bring the Edmond Town Hall stage to life by children and people of all ages.

"We start in September learning routines and by June, the students are excited and perform for all their family and friends," states Mrs Wardenburg. "The Best Show Ever happens once again."

Mrs Virginia Lathrop would totally agree.
