Richard âRickâ C. Shuttleworth, 59, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on June 4, after a short battle with cancer. He was born August 31, 1950, in Old Greenwich, where he was also raised.
Mr Shuttleworth retired from Greenwich Fire Department, Local 1042, with 22 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, and was president of Newtown VFW Post 308 Menâs Auxiliary, where he worked effortlessly for the organization. He was a Jack-of-all-trades, and his favorite pastime was cooking for family and friends.
Mr Shuttleworth is survived by his mother, Theresa Shuttleworth of Old Saybrook; a son, Jason, of Danbury; and a sister, Kathi Bletz, of Pennsylvania.
A memorial gathering took place at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel, Thursday, June 10, from 5 to 8 pm. The gathering was followed by a private burial.
