Police Inspect Commercial Vehicles For Trucking Violations
During the day on May 28, Officer Jeff Silver, who is the police departmentâs commercial vehicle inspector, made inspections of commercial trucks passing through town.
The police departmentâs traffic enforcement unit assisted.
Police said that the enforcement project was intended to find whether commercial trucks traveling on local roads were in violation of state and/or federal trucking laws.
Officer Silver inspected six commercial trucks and detected 22 violations of trucking laws, police said.
Three trucks were placed out of commercial service until problems could be resolved. Such problems typically involve deficient equipment.
Police said they plan more commercial truck inspections in the future.
