NHS Track Competes In States

Newtown High School’s boys’ and girls’ track and field teams competed in the Class LL State Championships at Manchester High School on June 3.

The boys, behind John Wlasuk’s first-place finish in the discus throw and second-place result in the shot put event, placed eighth with 30 points. Amity was first in the 23-team with 107 points. The boys’ 4x400 meter relay team set a school record by completing the race in a time of 3:27.84.

The girls’ team came in 18th with 11 points. Glastonbury won the 22-team meet with 111.50 points. NHS results are as follows:
