Kimberly Ryan Solheim, daughter of Janis and Peter Solheim of Sandy Hook and a 2006 Newtown High School graduate, graduated cum laude with honors and with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and a minor in leadership studies from Christopher Newport University, in Newport News, Va. While at the university Kimberly was on the Deanâs List multiple times, inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, which is the National Mathematics Honor Society; Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society; and into the Order of Omega, the National Greek Leadership Honors Society. She was a member of the Presidentâs Leadership Program, Phi Mu Fraternity, a recruitment counselor, secretary and president of the Class Council, the student assistant director of the honor program and a teaching assistant for the math department. Kimberly has accepted a one-year fellowship position in the Admissions Department at the university.
Allen Hubbard, son of Allen and Nancie Hubbard, was named to the Deanâs List for the spring 2010 semester at Saint Michaelâs College. Allen is a junior biology major at the liberal arts, residential Catholic college located in Burlington, Vt. Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the Deanâs List.
On Sunday, May 16, Kaitlin Rose Sullivan, daughter of Connie and Jim Sullivan, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Notre Dame, in Notre Dame, Ind.
Emily Snyder, a graphic design and digital media major, and Jamie Marcucilli of Sandy Hook, a double major in tourism and event management and hospitality industry management, were named on the spring 2010 Deanâs List at Champlain College, Burlington, Vt.
Charles S. Spath of Sandy Hook was named to the Presidentâs List for the spring semester at SUNY Oswego, in Oswego, N.Y. Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the Presidentâs List at the school.

Edward John Small, son of Mr and Mrs Stephen Small of Sandy Hook, graduated summa cum laude from Dickinson College on May 23 with a bachelor of the arts in history. Other recognition included Deanâs List and Phi Beta Kappa.
In Allentown, Penn., Jenna Van Waalwijk graduated magna cum laude on May 23 from Mulenberg College with a bachelor of the arts degree in business administration and psychology.
Bucknell University has released the deanâs list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2009-10 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive deanâs list recognition. Area students Abigail L. Atkinson, daughter of Glenn and Mary Atkinson, and Michelle L. Haitz, daughter of Thomas and Christine Haitz of Sandy Hook, were among the students on the list.

Keene State College, in Keene, N.H., has released the Deanâs List for the spring semester 2010. Area students named to the list were Lisa Marie Alberico, Jennifer King Coffey, and Amanda Marie Black. To qualify for the Deanâs List, Keene State undergraduates must be enrolled in a degree program and must have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. Students must achieve a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale to earn Deanâs List honors.
