Sr Margaret Mary Kane, SND, 76, died June 2 in Worcester, Mass.
She had been with the Sisters of Notre Dame for 58 years where she was known for many years as Sister Marguerite Julie.
Born in Lowell, Mass., a daughter of the late Michael H. and Margaret (Mullaney) Kane, she graduated from Emmanuel College with two masterâs degrees from Fairfield University. She was a longtime educator in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and she was a principal at St Rose School in Newtown.
Sr Marguerite Julie was pastoral assistant at St Edward the Confessor parish in New Fairfield from 1977 through 2001.
She leaves a sister, Marilyn Nugent of Leominster; several nieces and nephews; and her sisters in religion, the Sisters of Notre Dame.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and John Kane, and a sister, Rose Kane.
A funeral mass was held June 4 in Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester.
