Girls C/D

The Stride 5, Stallions 1 – Sam Lockhart scored three goals to lead The Stride to the win. Sara Pollack scored twice as Nicole Vournazos assisted on several of the goals. Laura Clark debuted in goal and played well. For the Stallions, June Repasi scored the lone goal as Olivia Dillion, Kayla Buckley and Christine Collins had great all around games.

Rapids 4, Hurricanes 1 – Robyn Abbott scored a pair of goals and Courtney Berko and Colleen Murphy added one apiece to lead the Rapids to the win. Caitlynn Coster played well in the midfield. For the Hurricanes, Libby and Amanda Maret played a balanced game while Sam Whitley was strong in the midfield.

Boys E

Vipers 0, Tigersharks 0 – Philip Lyon and Zach Lemein were solid on defense and Christian Gregoire powered the offense for the ‘Sharks. The Vipers had Reid Higham and Paolo Moscovici play their best games of the season with Matt Swigart playing strong offense and Bob Mascher playing great all-around.

Terminators 0, Silver Hawks 0 – Luke Shearin played well in goal, Sean Dardine in midfield, George Delia in goal and Liam Ferguson at left wing for the Terminators. For the Hawks, Stephen Ibanez in goal, Devin Dennis on offense, Peter Kerns on defense, Kevin Dill in midfield had fine performances.

Kings 3, Nucleus 2 – Goals by James Radcliffe, Thomas Capozziello, and Connor Quinn along with strong defensive play by Yanni Koutmos led the Kings to the win. For the Nucleus, John Imbimbo scored two goals, Greg Campbell had a strong game at midfield, Tommy Stewart played well on defense, and Jake Tolson had an outstanding game in goal.

Supersonics 1, Blaze 0 – Mike Carrafiello scored the lone goal to lead the Sonics. Tyler Hanna was constant high energy on the wing. Collin Gage and Luke Piazza led the defense. For the Blaze, Vinny Brophy played well in goal, Danny White and Josh Gilbert were solid in midfield and Alec Ravana played well on offense.

Girls E

Hawks 4, Nighthawks 0 – Kelsey Karp, Emma Iannini, Isabel Gleason and Lila Kohrman-Glaser each scored to lead the Hawks in the win. Alyse Brautigam and Zoe Eggleston also had strong games. For the Nighthawks, Alexandra Duris, Quincy De Young, Nicole Davis and Katie Burns all played well.

Boys F

Bombers 4, White Lightning 3 – Matt Villama popped in two goals, and Brenton Scott and Doug Miller added a goal each to lead the Bombers. Tyler Ruefenact had an assist and Harry Solaski led the defense. For the Lightning, Stephen Conway scored all three goals. Connor Roche and Brad Kretz anchored the defense with Danny Cummings. Nicholas Klein led the attack.

Monsters 3, Rockets 2 – Francis Saraceni scored two goals and Jared Wray scored another to lead the Monsters with Michael Senf assisting on all three goals. Christian Madeus had an all-around good game. For the Rockets, Christian Barrett and Trevor Connolly each scored a goal. Zach Pollock had a strong performance on offense and Luca Weibel was outstanding as fullback.

Nighthawks 2, Tornadoes 1 – Alex Roche scored both goals for the Nighthawks with Nick Roche playing great offense, and Justin Adsitt-Weiner doing a great job as goalie. Matt Rahtelli scored for the Tornadoes with Sam Langdon and Matt Baldino both playing an excellent game.

Raptors 4, Thunderbolts 2 – Austen Cassidy (2), Brenton Scott and Justin Corsello scored goals to lead the Raptors to a win with strong defense by Ryan Coe and Patrick Haggerty. Eric Pasani and Chris Thornberg had goals for the Thunderbolts with great defense provided by Henry Summ and David Czordas.

Metrostars 4, Roadrunners 0 – Josh Villa, Mick Schartenberg, Stephen Walsh accounted for the scoring and Brandon Smith played a great game for the Metrostars. For the Roadrunners, Will Dalton was exceptional on defense while Brenden Peterson, Christian Mather and Patrick Pierce had great all-around games.

Girls F

Huskies 3, Shooting Stars 1 – Brittany Tolla scored three goals with assists by Meaghan Harkins and Sarah Craig to lead the Huskies. Jane Sclafani was strong on D. For the Stars, Sophie Johnston scored with help from Claire Bernson. Michelle Spanedda was quick in midfield and Sierra Cicarelli was tough in goal.

Thunder 3, Nighthawks 1 – Kristiana Engler scored a pair of goals and Maria Biondi added one to lift the Thunder to the win. Cassie Laurent anchored the defense while Olivia Sergiovanni was strong in the goal. Emily Peters scored the lone goal for the Nighthawks. Courtney Campbell, Sally Martinelli and Sydney Hutchinson had superb performances.

Girls U10

Power 1, Middlebury 1 – On a slow, soggy field Newtown Power dominated Middlebury, but was unable to come away with more than a tie. Kelley Gaston score on a penalty kick for the Power. Maddy Keane played well at midfield and Christina Naldini played solid defense.

Boys U11

Crusaders 6, Wolcott 0 – Hank Helgren, Andre Capozziello, Colin Cooper, Ryan Dunnigan, Conrad Normann, and Dan Gallagher scored the goals with offensive support from Sean Burson and Jason Marks. Justin Brophy and Josh Barrett played excellent defense.

Southington Tournament –

 

The Strikers earned the championship of the U11 division at the Southington Tournament.

Strikers 2, Madison 2 – Eric Thornberg and Kyle Moore scored the goals to lift the Strikers into a tie. Kai Aschick and Tony Vacaro provided assists. Strong defensive support came from Max Brazo, Josh Engler and Michael Gould. James Truckle, Nick Wright and Kyle Wildman all played well.

Strikers 5, Meriden 3 – Kyle Moore notched a hat trick and Kai Aschick added two more goals to lead the Strikers. Daniel Hufziger, Aschick, Moore and Thornberg recorded assists. Ryan Pasko, Aaron Nezvesky and Patrick Fay kept the pressure on.

Strikers 7, Southington 0 – Nick Wright scored twice and Eric Thornberg, Tony Vacaro, Kyle Wildman, Kai Aschick and Ishan Tatake each scored once to power the Strikers. Patrick Fay, Michael Gould, Ryan Pasko and Aaron Nezvesky all played well.

Strikers 5, NECONN 0 – Eric Thornberg notched a hat trick to lift the Strikers. Kyle Moore and Dan Lynch added one goal apiece as Kyle Moore, Kai Aschick and Eric Thornberg provided assists. Ishan Tatake shut out NECONN in the goal.

Girls U11

Roadrunners 2, Watertown 1 – Lauren Meyer scored both goals (including the game winner in the final minutes) to lead the Roadrunners. Kelly O’Conner and Ali Pliszka were great on defense. Sarah Murtha and Katie O’Dell played great midfield and Casey Rutter made several key saves in goal.

Danbury 3, Roadrunners 2 – Sarah Attanasio and Kaitlin Brophy scored two early goals, but it was not enough to hold off league-leading Danbury. Casey Rutter made some great saves in goal while Alex Israel and Jill Jagoe played well in the midfield. Becca Jaroszewski and KellyAnne Brophy put in strong efforts on defense.

Girls U12

 

Rampage 2, Brookfield 0 – Laura Bittman scored both goals off assists by Monica Warek and Laetitia de Brantes to lead Newtown to the win. Katie Pessin made five saves in goal to earn the shutout while Ally Modzelewski and Berenice Bryant played well on D. Susan Mason had a strong game on offense.

Girls U14

Hurricanes 2, Brookfield 0 – The Hurricanes controlled play for most of this game thanks to the fine play of midfielders Colleen Thornberg and Katie Serock. Genna Scheuerell gave the Hurricanes the lead with a goal off a corner kick by Adelle Cerreta. Mary Bloshuk added an insurance goal off an assist from Cassie David.

Hurricanes 5, Berkshire United 1 – The Hurricanes had their finest offensive game of the year, scoring five times. Haley Keane led the way with a goal and two assists. Mary Bloshuk added a goal and an assist and Molly Curry, Kelly Sullivan and Genna Scheuerell all added goals. Adelle Cerreta and Danielle Norris contributed assists.
