Clothing Drive On Sunday

The Newtown United Methodist Church Youth Group will be conducting a clothing drive on Sunday, June 13, from 9 am to 1 pm.

Donations of gently used clothing, shoes, bedding and similar items will be accepted at the church’s Fellowship Hall, which is accessible from the lower rear parking lot at 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook. All donations need to be packed in plastic bags, which will make the collecting and transfer of the donated items easier.

The American Clothing Company will pay the youth group four cents for every pound of clothing it collects. The clothing will then be donated to area shelters or distributed to groups who can get clothing to those who need them.

The youth group will use the money it earns from the clothing drive to help a day care center it is sponsoring in Bolivia.
