Closing For Maintenance
Closing For Maintenance
C.H. Booth Library will be closed Saturday, June 19, through Sunday, June 27, for full building maintenance.
We will re-open for regular hours on Monday, June 28.
Materials can be returned in the outside book drops when the library is closed.
Childrenâs Programs
Summer reading will kick off on Wednesday, June 30, with âBubblemania,â a performance by Casey Carle at Reed Intermediate School Cafetorium from 10:30-11:30 am.
Copies of Caseyâs book will be on sale the day of the performance. Donât forget to shop our childrenâs book sale beginning at 9 am, also in the cafetorium.
Our summer reading program officially begins on June 30 and ends August 4. Children ages 4 through grade 5 may register to participate anytime during the five-week period.
Young Adults
*Drawing Demonstration: Christopher Hart will lead a drawing demonstration, called âManga!â on Tuesday, June 29, from 2 to 3:30 pm. This, our first summer program, will be for illustrators ages 10 and up.
Participants will need to bring their own sketch pad and pencils. You are also encouraged to bring some of your own artwork, which Chris will look at and talk about for you.
Pick up a flier at the library or get more information on all our programs on the YA Webspot at www.biblio.org/yawebspot. Telephone registration will be accepted for this program.
Chris will also have copies of his books available for purchase during this program. Prices range from $4.50 to $12.50.
*YA Book Discussion: Readers in grades 5 to 8 are invited to join us on Wednesday, June 30, from 4 to 5 pm, for a discussion of Belle Teal by Ann M. Martin. In this Nutmeg Book Award nominee readers join the story as school begins, and Belle Teal faces unexpected challenges: her best friends are up against some big problems, Granâs memory is slipping away, Mama works longer hours to support the family, and there are two new students in her class.
Sign up at the main floor circulation desk or call 426-4533.
Adult Programs
*Computer Classes: The intermediate computer class originally scheduled for June 19 has been postponed.
*Summer Concert Series Moving: Booth Libraryâs Summer Concert Series will return this year, but with the addition of new parking spaces behind our building we can no longer present concerts at the library.
The concerts will move this year to The Pleasance, the garden at the corner of Main Street and Sugar Street (Route 302). The series will open next month with Mary Beth Sippin & Goldrush on Saturday, June 19. Concerts will begin at 7 pm and are free of charge.
Because of the limited parking available at The Pleasance, we are encouraging people to park at the library and walk down to The Pleasances whenever possible. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Picnics will be welcome, but there are no trash receptacles at The Pleasance so please plan to carry out your own trash.
C.H. Booth Library, at 25 Main Street, can be reached at 426-4533. Current hours are 10 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday, noon to 5 pm on Friday, 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, and 1 to 5 pm on Sunday.
