MV Charges
Police report they lodged three motor vehicle charges against a local youth late on June 7.
Police said motorist Richard Novia, Jr, 18, of 25 Underhill Road was driving southbound on South Main Street near Sand Hill Plaza about 11:20 pm when he passed several vehicles on the right.
Police said they stopped Novia and investigated, charging him with passing on the right, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, and failure to carry a vehicle registration.
Police released Novia on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court June 26.

Sandy Hook DUI
Police said they stopped motorist Orlando A. Soto, 38, of 4 Deerfield Drive for driving fast on Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook about 2 am June 9.
Police said they smelled alcohol on Sotoâs breath and gave him field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police charged Soto with driving under the influence and traveling too fast.
After processing, police released Soto on a promise to appear June 20 in Danbury Superior Court.
Church Hill
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Church Hill Road east of The Boulevard about 4:45 pm May 29.
Eastbound motorist Deborah Fahey, 43, of 24 Pine Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer, was stopped and signaling to make a left turn into the Ice Cream Shop parking lot, when eastbound motorist Robert J. Gallucci, Jr, 39, of Fairfield, who was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante, came upon the Ford and applied his brakes, but was unable to stop and struck the Ford from behind, police said.
Police said Gallucci had been talking on a hands-free cellular telephone before the impact occurred. There were no injuries. Police issued a written warning to Gallucci for following too closely.
Turning Traffic
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Route 34 in Sandy Hook about 7:10 pm June 6.
Police report that motorist Anne H. Dalton, 47, of 5 Kale Davis Road, who was driving a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan, stopped on eastbound Wasserman Way to make a left turn onto Route 34. The front end of the minivan was stopped beyond the stop line in the turning lane, police said.
Tractor-trailer trucker Harold W. Snead, 61, of Lebanon, Tenn., was then turning onto westbound Wasserman Way from Route 34, when his left rear trailer tire scraped the minivan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Dalton, who was driving the minivan, a written warning for failure to obey traffic control markings for having pulled beyond the stop line.
Avoidance Maneuver
State police report that motorist Gordon Fuller, 54, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Interstate 84 about 1,500 feet east of Exit 9 about 8:15 am June 11, swerved to avoid striking a deer carcass in the center of the road, but in making the maneuver, lost control of the auto and struck 24 feet of guardrailing along the right road shoulder.
Fuller was not injured in the incident, state police said.
Tractor-Trailer Rollover
State police said tractor-trailer trucker Juan DeCarlo, 26, of Pittsburgh, Penn., was driving in the right lane of eastbound Interstate 84 about 1:30 am June 9, when the truck left the road, struck guardrailing along the right side of the road, and rolled over on its right side. The truck was carrying non-hazardous cargo, state police said. The collision extensively damaged the truck.
DeCarlo was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, according to state police.
Ford Vs Saturn
State police said motorist Albert M. Ball, 27, of Foster, R.I., was driving a 2001 Ford westbound on Interstate 84 about 500 feet east of Exit 10 about noon June 9, while motorist John M. Murphy, 34, of Mt Vernon, N.Y., was driving a 1998 Saturn westbound behind the Ford.
The Ford slowed down due to traffic conditions and the Saturn struck it from behind, state police said. Both vehicles received heavy damage. A passenger in the Ford and Murphy, who was driving the Saturn, received injuries in the collision, state police said. State police said Murphy was driving an unreasonable distance apart.
Car Vs Truck
State police report motorist Ralph J. Rizzo, Jr, 36, of Redding, who was driving a 2000 Nissan truck, stopped at the end of the eastbound Interstate 84 Exit 9 off-ramp and then attempted to turn right onto Hawleyville Road about 3:10 pm June 8, but then stopped due to oncoming traffic.
A 1994 Plymouth Acclaim driven by Kimberly J. Saunders, 19, of Melrose, Mass., which had stopped behind the Nissan at the end of the ramp, then struck the Nissan from behind after the Nissan had started moving and then stopped, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said they warned Saunders for following too closely.
Stones On The Road
State police said motorist David Chianese, 57, of Watertown was driving a 1990 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Interstate 84 about 500 feet east of Exit 11 about 8:30 am June 7, when some stones fell off a dump truck, which was traveling in front of the Volkswagen. Several stones struck the Volkswagenâs windshield, damaging it, state police said. Mr Chianese was not injured, state police said.
Collision On The       Interstate
State police report that motorist Brian Saccoccia, 42, of Wethersfield, was driving a 1998 GMC Jimmy sport-utility vehicle westbound in the center lane of three lanes on Interstate 84, east of Exit 10 on June 6. The GMC was hauling a trailer.
At that time, motorist Richard Martin, Jr, 31, of Waterbury was driving a 1991 Chevrolet coupe in the left lane, according to state police.
The GMC then changed lanes and struck the Chevrolet, state police said. There were no injuries. State police gave Saccoccia an infraction ticket on a charge of making an unsafe lane change.
Off-Ramp Accident
State police report a two-car accident at the end of the Interstate 84 Exit 11 off-ramp about 3:45 pm June 6.
State police said motorist Robert E. Fiala, 45, of Hamden, who was driving a 1998 Toyota Avalon, stopped at a red traffic signal at the end of the off-ramp, after which motorist Bruce E. Hansen, 54, of Orange, who was driving a Ford Taurus, stopped behind the Toyota.
The Toyota was then turning right onto Wasserman Way when the Ford struck it from behind, state police said.
State police said they verbally warned Hansen for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Bicycle Found
Police report that on June 10 they found a green 16-speed womanâs Mongoose bicycle at Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road in Sandy Hook. The owner of the bicycle may claim it at the police station.
Lincoln Damaged
Police report that some motorist apparently damaged a 1996 Lincoln Continental, which was parked near the Dynasty Restaurant in Newtown Shopping Village on Queen Street. Police said they learned about 5 pm June 10 that the left front fender of the Lincoln had been damaged to the extent that the driverâs door of the vehicle would not open properly. A Southbury man owns the auto. Police are investigating.
Big Y
Police report they learned about 7:45 pm June 12 from Big Y supermarket security personnel that Richard F. Young, 39, of 58 Shepaug Road had been seen putting packaged foot insoles into his pocket and then walking out of the Queen Street store.
Police said they investigated and found Young to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Police charged Young with sixth-degree larceny and possession of marijuana.
Young was released on a promise to appear June 27 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Vandalism
Police said they are investigating reports of vandalism in the area of Vona Road and Oak Ridge Road, where a development firm is building a residential subdivision. Police said they received a report on the problem from a construction firm.
