Mad Dash

Get ready to run, jump, crawl, carry and climb your way through NYA Sports & Fitness Center and Newtown Parks and Recreation's fifth annual Mad Dash Adventure Run on Saturday, June 11. This year's course offers some new exciting obstacles and has extended the course to include a small trail run component.

There are course levels to choose from: Elite Course three laps, Open Course one lap and the Mini Dash Adventure seven fun stations finishing in the mud! This is a family-friendly event with pricing starting at $15 and there is a discounted rate for teams of ten. Cost for Elite and Open participants is $35 ($200 for team of ten); cost for Mini Dash (ages 5-8) is $15; cost for Superhero teams of six is $125.

Start times: 8:30 am for Elite participants, 9:45 am for Mini Dash participants, and 10 am for Open participants.

This event is fundraiser for the Parks & Rec scholarship program and NYA's Spark After School Program provided by The Avielle Foundation and other community partners.

 

Rooster Run

The Annual Rooster Run/Walk 5K will take place on Saturday, June 18, beginning at 8 am. The race will begin and end at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street.

Entry forms and maps are available at the Parks & Recreation office, 3 Main Street. Register online at www.newtown-ct.gov and search Activity # 414102, or at the Parks & Recreation office. Online and walk-in registrations will close at noon on Friday, June 17. To register on the day of the race, participants must arrive by 7:30 am.

This race/walk is for the elite to the novice. Cost on race day is $30. Proceeds benefit the Newtown Scholarship Association.
