Barbara J. Dittmar

Barbara J. Dittmar, 58, of Sandy Hook died June 8. She was born in Camden, N.J., to Jean and Donald Lobach on May 21, 1958.

Ms Dittmar graduated from Concordia College, Bronxville, N.Y., and received a BA in elementary education.

She was married to Daniel P. Dittmar on April 9, 1983, and they lived in Pennsauken, N.J., before relocating to Connecticut in 1993.

Ms Dittmar was a second grade teacher and taught in the parochial school system in New Jersey and Connecticut for more than 20 years. She was passionate about teaching children, and sharing the joy of knowing Jesus.

She was an active member of Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel. She loved serving the church, preparing communion and praising the Lord. She had a heart for worship, and loving children and friends in her community. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to music, trail walking with her husband, reading and decorating her home.

Her husband; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua and Meghan of Shelton, and Peter and Maggie of Newtown; her parents, Jean and Donald Lobach of Medford, N.J.; and her two sisters, Terri Burke, and her husband Bill, of Hingham, Mass., and Jennifer Knopple, and her husband Tommy, of Marlton, N.J., survive Ms Dittmar. She was a loving sister-in-law, as well as an aunt to her wonderfully fun nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life service on Monday, June 13, at 11 am, at Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Road, Bethel.

In lieu of flowers, donations designated to Youth Ministry, to Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Road, Bethel CT 06801, are appreciated.
